Project Runway Season 9 Starts July 28th!

They also didn't have any of those "fun" challanges this season. Like using stuff from a supermarket/pet store/party city, etc, or the Levi challange, only getting pairs of jeans for fabric, or using stuff found in a car (Saturn car challange). There wasn't any real "thinking outside the box" with materials.

i can think of two actually: pet store challenge and make an outfit out of your pajamas challenge.

last year, there were NONE of those creative challenges though.

the switch to Lifetime and Bunnim/Murray was the death of this show. i'd love to know what Tim Gunn thinks. he was more vocal last year. it's obvious they've done something to make him keep his mouth shut this year.

i will say that none of the designers this year could hold a candle to the losing designers of the past. All Stars is a clear representation of that. as much as i thought Viktor should've won this season, he couldn't have competed against some of the past designers.

You know, I think I've watched every season of Project Runway, and I gotta tell you, there's one season that totally captivated me and I would rewatch it today if it came on -- Season 4.

I don't know what it was about Christian Siriano, but that season was the tops for me and I haven't felt the same about a season since then. (I also loved Chris March, Sweet P, and Rami Kashou.)

And while his designs were fantastic, I think I just enjoyed watching him and seeing his personality come through. I guess Christian's fierceness just spoiled me! ;)

FIERCE!

(Really, really, really looking forward to All-Stars!!!)

You know what is fun to watch? Season ONE!
It is unpolished, not in this set "formula"-when the designers stand on the runway for critique-its the same old=same camera angle same script -same "And one designer WILL BE OUT" from Heidi
And they had "The MOm"-that crazy Wendy Pepper with my fave Timm Gunn comment "Do not defend the shoe":rotfl:

I'm a little late but I just watched this on DVR last night. As much as I think Viktor deserved to win, it is no surprise that Anya did. I think that was the judges plan all along.

My favorite scene from Season 4 was that married guy coming back from Mood carrying Christian in a big tote bag!!

Well, I agreed with someone earlier who said it was Viktor's to lose, and yes, he jumped right in there and lost it. Yes, I'm sure they planned to give it to Anya all along, but those weird sheer things Viktor threw in at the end certainly gave them an excuse. The only good thing about the final was that Joshua didn't win.

Also... Kenley on All Stars? Really? Does anyone need or want MORE of her?

But the question has got to be, Why did they waste Kimberlee's time in sending her to Fashion Week? It was obvious they didn't even consider her in the top spot. (not that I thought she should be but still...)

I didn't like Joshua the whole season. He was evil to everyone and totally tried to act nice in the end for the judges. Those GREEN shorts for the runway show?? EEWW!!!

I was just reading Glamour magazine from October 2011 and there is an atricle on see-through clothes making a come-back...just saying Viktor might have been right!

And Anya, yes, they've really done it this time. I will no longer watch faithfully because of this year's winner. I think I'm not even caring about All-Stars. instead of a 'competition' show they should just follow their favorites around for a month or something. Show the judges throwing compliments at them. Oh, that's what we got this year anyway-not much of a competition when you could tell the winner (but hoped not!) after the 1st 2 episodes not based on merit but based on judges favorite.

I was very disappointed with the outcome.

I was rooting for Viktor (OMG, loved the first outfit on the runway), but I think I would've even been happy if Josh would've won as much as that pains me to say that.

I like Anya as a person a lot, but I don't think she deserved to win. I thought for sure the whole "sewing the models into the outfits" would have come back to bite her in the butt at some point. Guess not. I agree w/ what Michael Kors said about how if you were to imagine an Anya piece of jewelry or bedspread, you would know what it would look like, but the plunging necklines and flowing dresses for the majority of her looks? :confused3

It's a real slap in the face to the designers who have put blood, sweat and tears into their craft for years. Anya is talented, don't get me wrong, but I just don't think she deserved to win.

Part of me thinks that I won't watch the next regular season, but by the time that one airs, I probably will have forgiven and do love Tim and MK, so we shall see.

Smells like sour grapes in here LOL. I think Anya deserved to win based on her talent. I consistently loved her looks (can't say the same for anyone else except Viktor who totally dropped the ball in the end). She may not have logged as much time as the others, but natural talent still counts. I was rooting for her from day one when I heard she hadn't been sewing but 4 months.

Only my opinion...and I would've felt angry if I were in other shoes and had another favorite I thought more deserving.

Sour grapes just because we disagree with you?

I think Anya has more taste than talent. If anyone else had put out that collection of unconstructed dresses, they would have been raked over the coals.

No. Sour grapes when people pull the "I'm through watching because I didn't like the outcome" card.

Call it whatever you like. I didn't have a preference for another contestant over Anya and frankly I'd much rather she won than Josh.

My issue is with the fact that IMO this show is not enjoyable for me any more. It has devolved into nothing more than an exercise in standard reality-show manipulation. I don't enjoy that form of entertainment. The entire cadre of designers this season was terribly sub-par and many of them were obviously cast and kept on for the drama or sob story factor. (I mean seriously -- they actually managed to have more dead relatives touted on the show than on American Idol!) None of them deserved to win the "Next Great American Designer" title.

When I'm not enjoying a show any more for any reason, I stop watching it. I just don't like this show any more, so I'm done with it.

Its not sour grapes at all. I have watched since the beginning and while there have been years I haven't been happy with the winner, this is the first year that someone who couldn't sew has won. Yes she has wonderful taste, but its not a show about who has the best taste, its a show for designers.

I found myself fastforwarding after they announced the challenge to the end to see who one. It seemed to be more about the drama than anything. I missed it when the designers seemed to enjoy themselves and not be so mean. Sure there have been mean people before, but this year it seemed to be all about the meanness and not the talent. I took it off the DVR a few weeks ago. I will watch the reunion and that will be it for me. I loved the show when it was on Bravo, so I feel the move to Lifetime has more to do with the new vibe than anything.

It's not sour grapes to realize that what you thought was at least semi-real is really extremely orchestrated, and to realize that because of this, you're no longer interested in the show.

Has anyone ever found actual PROOF that the show is rigged? Any of these "reality" shows? Where are the bios or blogs from former production company members deriding the "fixed" nature of the shows?

Until the expose that proves...really proves (a la the 21 scandal) that these reality shows are rigged/fixed etc, it's just sour grapes...In MY opinion of course.

Once again, "I no longer find this entertaining" is not the same thing as sour grapes. :confused3

For future reference, anything I post on a message board is my opinion. Not in the habit of using anyone else's opinion. ;)

I was cracking up over comments made on another message board. Someone said the judges gave the prize to Anya because they enjoyed her 3-way sex video so much. :lmao: And the reason she had nothing to show Tim Gunn in Trinidad was because she'd farmed all the sewing out to seamstresses on the island. :lmao:

it's not sour grapes for me. i've watched many seasons where i wasn't happy with the winner. it's just that it's become more about the story and less about design. in year's past, if a designer had sent down what Anya did, s/he would've been lamblasted. we would've heard that the judges needed to see more versatility, more range, etc. those are all things we heard about Uli, who is WAY more talented than Anya.

anymore, it seems more about the story now and less about design and talent. this year's pool of designers was really disappointing.

i'll give you that Anya can pick out prints. that's about it. i didn't find her work all that ground-breaking or forward-thinking. i can find long, flowy dresses just about anywhere. and i think the reason that she did so many of them was because they were EASY. and it was pretty obvious (to me) that she'd been chosen from the beginning. what a great Lifetime movie: beautiful girl learns to sew and then wins PR a few months later.

as far as villains, one of the greatest was Jeffrey. and personally, i loved him. he had the talent to back up his meanness.

and really. they praised those green shorts. they PRAISED those green shorts! my mouth was agape. :sad2::sad2:

(psa: all of the above is my opinion.)

Actually, if you read the disclaimers at the beginning/end of any episode - and presuming Lifetime is as ethical as Bravo - the producers have a LOT of input into the actual decisions over who stays, goes, wins...
