Project Runway Season 9 Starts July 28th!

Big hair wasn't the problem. Looking like she stepped out of Barbarella from the neck up was the problem. And the Kardashians ain't exactly the height of runway fashion. And Claudia Schiffer hasn't been the height of fashion for a while now.

:lmao: Yes. I kept wondering "where are the bird people/angels? Does she have a space ship?" I loved the dress, but the hair and makeup were just awful.

But hey, DH and I pegged the top three and the bottom three pretty handily and we both agreed that if Burt didn't win something was seriously amiss on Project Runway. I loved Baton Rouge's top (not for me - I'm too wide for vert stripes) and the skirt. Also adored Just-learned-how-to-sew's outfit. Gourgeous stuff there!

DH and I always laugh at our choices. It seems that whoever we like the best gets sent home or is at least in the bottom two. And often, the one we think is strangest gets top honors. There was one a few weeks ago (a repeat, I forget the season) that I actually laughed out loud when it came on the runway-she looked so ridiculous. Well, you guessed it-that one won. I have no fashion taste!

The fit was horrible on a few pants. :scared1: The Asian gal's model had a big pouch in the front of hers. :scared1: The back looked great, but not the front. Two other designers had the same problem. The fronts didn't lie flat. I thought for sure Michael would say something about that.

I know!! I hated Anya's (I think that's her name) outfit! That Asian-style top looked like a $5 something you could pick up at Canal Street or in Chinatown. And those PANTS-- like you said, a big pooch puffing away from her crotch. How is that good construction??
I seriously doubt her "I learned to sew four months ago" story. No way. At the very least, I doubt that she never made pants before. No way. If she really was a novice sewer, when you find out you're going to be on Project Runway, you practice doing EVERYTHING, because you know you're going to have to make all kinds of different things!

I can't believe I had some of the names wrong in Mondo's season. I saw the Episode I was remembering again the other night. I felt so bad for Michael C when he got eliminated, and his main concern was "How will I go back and face my parents?" I really hope they've come to accept him by now.

I haven't seen any of the curent season yet-I recorded it, but right now I've been learning about the designers. I haven't watched it yet.

And yet Kim Kardashian is set to be a guest judge on PR this season.

Doesn't she & her sister also have some sort of fashion & accessories line? :confused3 She has an estimated worth in the millions for someone who no one really knows what she does. The money supposedly comes form beyond just their reality TV shows.

She might not be the height of Paris/NY runway fashion, but she is influential in terms of trends in pop culture.

So, anyway...

I thought the bird seed dress was much more stylish and well-crafted than the dog bed/hamster bedding dress that won. I can't believe that the judges overlooked how beautifully it fit Anthony's model and decided to nit-pick the length of the dress, when Olivier's dress did not flatter, and actually made his model look dumpy!

And once again the inconsistency of the judges makes me crazy! Why was it ok for Olivier to use the dog bed sheepskin fabric for his garment, but Joshua using the umbrella fabric was a big no-no?! And the wee wee pad couturier was allowed to stay?! Where's the logic in that?

PS - This week should be very interesting...according to Entertainment Weekly, the very first Project Runway public elimination will be held after the outdoor runway show.

I didn't like the old guy's attitude. He had immunity, this would have been the time to try something outragous. Some of the others had very beautiful creations. He didn't even try. I think he would have been eliminated if he didn't have immunity.

Hedi needs to stick up for herself. It's her show, she should have the final call. :sad2: I've never been particularly impressed with Nina or her "taste".

I agree-- the judges are getting so aggravating. Yeah, the top was well constructed, but it was made out of FABRIC! I thought the skirt was incredibly unflattering (made the model's hips look huge) and looked like it was dipped in...well...something gross and brown that the hamster bedding is actually made for!
Also, that designer's fake accent is KILLING me. Dude, you lived in Ohio until you were 16. Your faux Brit accent has got to go! If he's only 22 now...six years is not enough to fully acquire a real accent.

:thumbsup2 I thought the same thing-they gushed on and on about the dog bed-its FABRIC-but others bashed for using fabric:confused3

Agreed. She may not be a Versace, but it's not like she doesn't know anything about fashion.

Kardashian co-owns a clothing boutique called D-A-S-H with her sisters Kourtney and Khloé. In the spring of 2010, she and her sisters released a clothing line for retail store Bebe. She has also featured in numerous international editions of FHM, including the cover of the April 2010 Australian edition and the UK March 2011 edition. In February 2008, Bongo Jeans announced that Kardashian would be their face model. Kardashian is also a model for Travis Barker's Famous Stars and Straps clothing line. In March 2009, Kardashian launched an endorsement with ShoeDazzle shopping. Kardashian is the co-founder and chief fashion stylist for ShoeDazzle. Kardashian also creates jewelry along with her sisters, Khloé and Kourtney. The trio released a jewelry line for Virgins, Angels, and Saints. The 20 piece collection debuted in March 2010. The jewelry reflects on the Kardashian's Armenian heritage. In August 2010, Kardashian announced that she and her sisters will release another clothing line. The clothing line is called K-Dash and it will be sold on QVC.

Agreed. My point was in reference to a previous poster saying that Kim Kardashian has nothing to do with runway fashion and hence nothing to do with PR. Frankly, the Kardashian sisters made $65 million last year, so as far as I'm concerned they're the Midas sisters.

I completely agree. I also don't like the 90 minute show. One hour is long enough to spend with these people.

And give them a regular challenge. I don't like quirky ones back to back. I would have liked to have seen this past one done later on & not teams with more time.

I agree. I'd like to see some real clothes...is that too much to ask? lol

The outdoor runway would've been perfect for sportswear, cruise wear, vacation wear, casual separates....anything other than that awful circus gimmick.:eek:

Or DisneyWear:lmao: Have them wear Blinged out ears. Fashionable fanny pack-the winner of that one would have a fan in me & new customer for life.

Kae

I'm getting really good at spotting the winner - it's the one that I think is awful! Those feathers??? Please! That wasn't a costume???

And Falline didn't cut "on the grain." But the Asian woman who started sewing 3 months ago knew exactly what Bryce meant? Yeah, she's self-taught. Right.

I agree, too - not really doing it for me.

I HATED the stilt challenge! I was also floored that they liked the chiffon top with bedazzled collar/brown pants combo. YUCK! I guess my tastes are not high fashion. :confused3
