Project Runway Season 9 Starts July 28th!

Looking forward to it! I never watch Lifetime for anything else, but for the last 3 seasons, I've been lucky enough to hear about the new season starting just days before it starts. Don't know if I'll have enough time to watch the hour-long show before the actual episode introducing the designers, but I'll Tivo it anyway! Gretchen winning was a total bummer last season.

The PPs are right -- Gretchen's win was an abomination, and after letting loose some rather foul language after the last season finale, I swore I would not watch it again since Kors and Nina clearly had no respect for the other judges or the viewers ... but now....

I wonder if that's why it has been such a loooong time between seasons -- they're trying to let people cool off from that season finale!

Last year's outcome was so depressing. I knew it wasn't just me when even Tim Gunn said that he wondered if the judges were smoking crack last season.

I just read his book and it interested me to read his account of how much power Nina has in the decisions. He said Heidi is intimidated by Nina.

The winner-Burt-was a professional employed designer 30 years ago-really has an edge over the others

The Baton Rouge guy-holy moley from the previews there will be lots of fighting between him and Burt

I really got tired of hearing the personal tragedies they both went thru-think the show milked that too much

Asian Girl=SHADES OF LAST YEAR-all the judges raving over her design and she supposedly has only been sewing for 3 MONTHS????:confused3

Yay Bert! I'm so happy he won. Loved his dress. And I'm gladd Joshua C was spared as I like him too. Anya really did blow me away with her ability to make pants on only 4 months of sewing experience.

Here's to a great season!

I was happy for Bert, too. Love the 'comeback' aspect of his story.

I hated that they brought all the contestants to NY and eliminated 4 right away. They've done that before, and it just seems so mean.

There are a couple of contestants that seem to be straddling the line between confidence and arrogance, but no one really stands out as being truly annoying...yet!

Do you think Anya really learned to use a sewing machine only 4 months ago and in those 4 months never practiced on silk? Or constructed a pair of pants? :confused3

I like Bert, the color-blind guy, and the puking clown girl. It seems the talent level is higher and drama quotient is lower than last season. I don't mind butting heads during creative processes; just cannot deal with meanness and bullying.

No, I don't believe her and I don't think the judges do either. Love Bert, was so afraid he was going to go in the first group of 4! I liked his models styling, and then DH had to cut me down and tell me its cause Bert and I are in the same age bracket, he graduated from design school the year I graduated from HS!

Loved the puking clown. SO funny. And DH likes the color blind guy since DH is also color blind (all four colors).

I DO NOT care for "Barbie", the pretty rich blond girl. Anyone who flaunts being a pretty rich girl needs a severe knocking down several pegs.

Did you notice "Barbie" frantically putting on makeup in the dark when they dragged them out of bed?:rotfl2:

Glad they got rid of the annoying high pitched voice girl-blech:eek:

Don't worry; she'll get it.

Am I the only one that did not like the tank top/skirt combo. Just wasn't my favorite but I loved what bert made. Not bad for boxers and a t shirt.

I didn't care for it, either. It looked like she was wearing a loincloth over her skirt.

Also didn't like Julie's snowboarder-esque pants at all. The fit was horrible! I kept waiting for the famous "that crotch is insane" Michael Kors comment! :rotfl:

I totally agree! I thought he was going to be in the bottom 3. The top was cute, but not out of the ordinary. The shirt, well :lmao:, was pretty bad.

I LOVED Bert's dress and look. I didn't think the hair was from Farah. It was tossled and what I see girls wearing now. I feel kind of sorry for the model wearing his UNWASHED drawers.

Anthony might be coming back! I got such a kick out of him in Season 7. What was it he said? "You don't have to wear a crown to be the queen." That cracked me up! And I remember some very poignant moments with Mondo and Michael C in their season. At one time Michael C was in tears, begging about how he just couldn't go back to the lifestyle his parents wanted, that they saw this design thing as a "phase", and that at some point he's snap out of his gayness and back to "reality". Meanwhile, Tim went over to Mondo's house one day, and although his parents admitted that when Mondo was a child, they'd tried to steer him on "the straight and narrow" they laughingly said the knew it wouldn't work and that Mondo just did his own thing. Mondo had such a warm relationship with his parents, I swore I'd never be the type of parent Robert had. It was so sad.

Bert himself asked the hair stylist to make the model look like Bridgette Bardot. If that ain't out of touch with current style trends... So I have to side with Michael Kors on that one.

Joining in! :wave2: I don't get Lifetime on my cable. The past couple of seasons I kept forgetting I could watch online until half the season was over. Then it was to late and too many episodes to watch to catch up. Since there isn't that much good on TV this summer, I'm going to make an effort to remember to watch online.

Yes, I think Bert will be the one to beat. Did you hear who he used to work for? :faint: My only concern is, as the season progresses & the lack of sleep & stress get to them all, will he be able to keep up? Or will his age do him in? It wouldn't be hard to make ONE bad, sleepless decision & get the boot. :scratchin

I couldn't believe the gal with the white hair & blue streak is only 37. I thought for sure that she's in her 50s! Dye your hair, honey!

I don't get the fuss about the hair either? :confused3 She had Claudia Schiffer's hair? The Kardasian girls have big hair, too, only brunette. :confused3

OMG! Me, too! :hyper: I thought all he did was raise up the neckline on HIS tank top. :confused3 That didn't take much effort. So he sewed on some trim to the stripes and the shoulder. :confused3 His clothes had the least construction change. I could do that.

The fit was horrible on a few pants. :scared1: The Asian gal's model had a big pouch in the front of hers. :scared1: The back looked great, but not the front. Two other designers had the same problem. The fronts didn't lie flat. I thought for sure Michael would say something about that.

Big hair wasn't the problem. Looking like she stepped out of Barbarella from the neck up was the problem.

And the Kardashians ain't exactly the height of runway fashion. And Claudia Schiffer hasn't been the height of fashion for a while now.
