Good morning - I'm in a panic and I'm hoping you can help calm me down. When each of you signed up, did you see a deadline date to finish the blankets by? The deadline that popped up when I signed us up was in April. I didn't put it in, and I didn't see a way to change it either. My trip is in March. I read somewhere that they can't confirm your project until after some deadline that was input during your registration.

Does anyone know about this? I want to go out and buy materials today and get going on this project with my family, but if they won't be able to confirm us till too late, I need to find another project instead (which so far has not been easy).

Can anyone help???

Thanks!!

Leslie

For me, when I logged to manage my account on the Hands on site I was able to edit the date myself. I had picked a date and got them done sooner so I changed it to an earlier date.

I was worried about this, too. I did a book drive, not project linus, but I was given 60 days to complete the service. That would have been in March (don't remember the exact date). I finished and mailed the books on Wed, and emailed all the paperwork to my contact person. On Thu, I got an email that she had verified all of us, and on Friday my GAD status had changed to complete and waiting on verification. I didn't have to change anything in the computer myself.

That's interesting because I had picked an April date to complete our PL blankets by and then we finished them in January. I e-mailed the PL contact to let her know they were going to be mailed soon and she told me she couldn't verify us until the April date unless I went in to my account and changed the date. So I did in order for her to verify them sooner so we could make sure we got our vouchers. Maybe different organizations/sponsors have different rules.

I just went into my acct to check for the vouchers again-nothing yet:)

I guess the difference is that mine doesn't have a specific date. It states that the project had to be completed "on or before March 7."

My info says that the date of my service has passed and verification may take up to 2 wks.

So I guess there are different ways they could have set up their calendars.

OP here - Thanks for all the comments and experiences. I went in to my account and tried to change the date, but still was not given any options for the date. It says the same as a prior poster - that the blankets have to be finished "on or before" sometime in April. I went ahead and got everything and my family has started work, so I guess we're just going to roll those dice.

Thanks again, and I'd still love to hear others' experiences!

I was wondering if you could tell us how you changed the date. I am doing this project as well and don't want to run into any problems. Thanks!

I logged on and went into the "manage account" part and there was the date and I just changed it. Some people have mentioned that either the date doesn't show up or they are not allowed to change it and others have said they can. Maybe it has to do with how the sponsor set up the page :confused3>

Thanks for letting us know. I want to try to avoid any issues, so I will try changing the date.

I signed up for the Project Linus in my area and it had a deadline date for the blankets. After filling everything out it then asked me what date I wanted to come in and volunteer (after the blankets are made). Did anyone else also have to volunteer at an event and make blankets? I wouldn't mind except the dates are during our trip!

Every chapter has different requirements and there are some that require you to come to their location on a specific date to make your blankets. I haven't heard about chapters that require you to make a blanket and then also 'come in' to volunteer, which doesn't mean it isn't possible, just that I haven't seen any posts about it. You might want to contact the group directly to ask.

I sent on email to the contact person for the Project Linus opportunity I was completing and asked her about my deadline date (a week before we leave). I explained that I plan on finishing the blankets much sooner. She replied (quickly I might at:thumbsup2) that she will verify my project upon receipt.

My 'date' was last Sat. We made our blankets at home, and mailed them out on Monday. They got to the Project Linus chapter in NH yesterday and I just printed out my vouchers.
So, even though it says it can take two weeks to verify, it may very well be much faster.

I had chosen a date about 6 weeks out from when I signed up and actually completed my blankets in less than 2 weeks. My PL chapter advised me to go in and update the "volunteer date" in the system to a much closer date, which I did, so they could verify me more quickly. Worked great - got verified within 2 days of that date and got my voucher email 2 days after that. :)
