What did you take a picture of today?? :goodvibes

Hmmm, perhaps my Dad trying to fix my dryer???

Well...... it was going to be a picture of DD and her friends getting ready for skiing. But the parking lot was full so I ended up just dropping them off and not walking them in, so no picture there. Maybe DD could take one with her phone? Other than that, I'm not sure for today............P

My nephew (he'll be 38 tomorrow) happened to be down from NH visiting my parents so I got a picture of the 3 of them! :thumbsup2

I also went to Walmart to print my photos from last week so I hope to get my book updated soon.

Because I know you all are just dying to know what's going on...

It's a DEEP hole. He had to go get a ladder.

Yup. Gravel and clay. At least a foot worth of pipe blocked with it. He as to dig out more to see how far it goes. There is more than a crowbar length of ick. Has to cut more pipe to clean it out.

Gravel and clay.. how did it get in there??? and how in the world do you prevent it for the future??

Don't know HOW it got in there. It is the pipe that runs along the footer of the house and then out towards the road. Even when the ditch by the road is too full, I can't see it back washing that much gravel & clay into the pipe.
It must have been when they first dug and layed the pipe. It was pretty rainy that spring. If it rained before they put the gravel in, the clay would leach into the perforations in the pipe. If they were very careless, gravel could have been knocked into the openings. After time, that gravel and clay mud collected in the lowest section of the pipe. Right by the house. Means the pipe wasn't laid right either. That should be the highest part of the pipe. [I've learned lots today - my teachers would be so proud] I'm guessing the whole thing will need to be dug up to the road and re-set so there is a constant downward for gravity to work right. But that is okay. I can handle a messy front yard. It if this isn't the only low spot. If there is more blockage in the footer that goes around the house, my whole porch will be have be taken apart. Think we find that out tomorrow when he comes back with the camera. The porch roof is still there. Just has cantilevered 4x4's holding it up. The hole is under the roof incase it rains. Like it supposed to soon. :sad2:

OH good gracious AWM! That is awful.. makes you want to find the original person and make him eat some of those rocks!!!!! ERRG!!

Wow AWM, that's a deep hole! I sure hope they can get it all fixed up for you and do it properly this time!!!!

My photo today is of DS in a toga for a skit he's doing in class today. He used a plain white sheet we had and then he's got this huge bright yellow light-up Hercules sword from when we saw Hercules on Ice years ago. I'm a pack rat, I save everything and, see, it comes in handy sometimes!

Oh WOW!! That is a deep hole!! Makes sense about the lowest point and all. I agree with Nan, I'd want to find the guy who messed it up in the first place, and make him clean it out with his bare hands...toads and all

Okay - it's worse and it's better.

Worse - the pipe the man was cleaning is NOT the same pipe the camera was in. Yup - the two WERE NOT connected. They should have been, but they weren't. So we have two ends of the one that goes around the house and the one end of the one that goes towards the road. All three openings were just kinda almost next to each other - with lots of room in between. Maybe the water might kinds flow from the ends of the ones around the house into the SIDE of the one going out to the road. Because the opening of the one to the road went past the opening to the ones to the house, they crossed each other instead of into each other.

To the bottom left, the pipe that goes to the road. To the top right the two openings to the one around the house. See how far apart they are and the angle of them. Nope, not the way it should have been.

Guess who has the phone number of the person who built the house? Guess who's DH is gonna be saying perhaps some not so nice words to the person who built our house?

The better is if the water flows out of the two openings, there is no more blockage in the footer pipe around the house. No destruction of the porch.
Still need to also see about the rest of the pipe to the road.

Man had to leave for a while and will be back later to check that part out. It's a neighbor who squeezed us into his schedule so we are willing work around it because he does this for a living. [we didn't know him when the house was built, they moved in after us.]

Wow, no wonder there was all that stuff in the pipe...

Hope your DH gets some satisfaction from the jerk!

My pic is of the illegal ham in the crock pot...ooops, I forgot :confused3

And I kept wondering why there were so many fish commercials the last few nights...Wendy's, McD's :rotfl2:
