DS just got a speeding ticket and I am afraid our insurance rates will go up. I checked coverage for him with Progressive and it will be cheaper than what he has now. We have always had State Farm and had no complaints. Anyone have any experience with Progressive? Good or bad I would be happy to hear any comments. Thanks!

Ya know, we had State Farm for 13 years. No accidents, no tickets, perfect customers. In March we bought a new car and rates went up like 5 bucks. I checked into Progressive because a co-worker just raves about them and has had no problems at all.

Did the search on line and it showed that they would save us 250.00 a year on insurance. Also showed that All-State would save us 413.00 a year. This was the exact same coverage that we had at State Farm.

We choose to go with All-state. I called my State Farm agent and she says she cant do anything for us because we are already getting all the discounts. We had multi line (Auto and Home) safe driver, 10 year no accidents, etc. I told her if she couldnt match it we were leaving. Gives me the spiel saying that we shouldnt leave as we are "guaranteed renewable" and that we would be throwing that away. I told her that we were leaving anyways.
Im guaranteed renewable at All-state. Course, if I wreck the car, they are gonna offer me a new contract, but at a higher rate. I can still get insurance.

So then I sign papers and they get us to switch home owners insurance too. Exact same coverage for the house and it is 450.00 cheaper. I called State Farm again. Agent pleads with us not to leave. I told her to match it and I would stay with them.

Alas, it did not work out. Im an All-State kinda guy now...

Good luck....

State Farm car insurance is expensive! I was shopping around in February and their quote was $200 higher than what I already had. The agent I talked to admitted they had high rates for car insurance.

I was in 2 accidents in High School so my Dad had to take me off of his policy or they would drop him. We went with Progressive and really liked them. Never had a problem. :)

I'm with State Farm now but we used to have Progresive. Our rates were much cheaper with Progressive until our dd got her license and then the rates skyrocketed. Same thing happend to two friends that had progressive too. We started looking around for a better rate and state farm was good for us. I think that once dd is a little older or leaves home we will probably check rates again and maybe move back to progressive but right now they are higher for us.
