What type of training does Disney provide for professional interns? Is it classroom training, mentoring, videos, or are you just expected to know things?

It depends on the role.

As a base measure, all Walt Disney Parks and Resorts U.S., Inc. Cast Members are required to go through Traditions, the Orientation Class that details the history and culture of our company, as well as of The Walt Disney Company and Affiliated Companies as a whole.

Disney Professional Internships Program Participants in Managerial roles will go through Leadership Foundations, which is the Company's training programme for Salaried Leaders. This is a series of courses over several weeks/months covering topics ranging from The Disney Look to Legal and CBA Compliance.

For Participants technical/specialised roles, particularly in the Engineering, Biological and Chemical Science fields, it is expected that they have a basic understanding of the work from school. In those cases, training is generally limited to an orientation of the Company's operating procedures.

For my position, I had two weeks of training and it was crazy intense. At first I couldn't figure out why I needed that much, but three months later I wish I had more! It was very individualized to me and my needs. There were sections I was able to skip because of my knowledge, but then other areas that were expanded because I wasn't getting it. The program was wonderful because it was one on one (even though there were two interns).

What internship did you have?

Technical Writer as apart of the Operations Learning and Development Team. The position no longer exists.

I did the recreation line of bussiness PI and I can tell you I had NO TRAINING!! There was a binder left by the previous intern which really didn't have much in it and that was it, it was more learn as you go type of thing and alot of self learning. The intern this semester was lucky cause I am still around for her if she had questions and I made a even better binder for her. So it really does depend on the role you have.
