Professional internship program question

Can someone who was terminated from the college program (but eligible for rehire), still apply to the PI program? Over a year would have passed from the termination. Or must you start over at the CP program?

If one did not complete the College Program successfully, then they technically wouldn't be an alumnus of the program and be eligible for the Alumni-only Professional Internships.

However, there are many that do not require CP alumni status to apply for them.

Regardless of whether or not you complete the program, PIs are open to the best possible candidates. The CP is very helpful in terms of being around leaders who can write good recommendation letters. If you are still rehirable, then you can try for the PI, but you had better have a stellar resume. The fact is that any one with a stellar resume in that field is going to beat out a normal CP alum who doesnt have as many skills or experience. So, yes you can still apply and if you have what they are looking for, then you have just as good a chance as anyone.

This blanket statement isn't exactly accurate. It implies that the CP doesn't matter. Not sure if you intended for it to read that way or not.


There are many PI's that require one to have successfully completed the program in order to be considered for them. For those, it doesn't matter if you have worked/interned in other companies in similar positions. You will be excluded from consideration based on the fact that you didn't complete the CP as listed in the required qualifications in the job description. BTW- this isn't my opinion.
