Hey everyone! I'm new to this forum, but there's a lot of GREAT stuff here.

I just had an interview for a communications/marketing professional internship with Walt Disney World, and it's for Fall 2007. I was wondering, how easy (or difficult) do you suppose it is to get a full-time position (with benefits) after the end of the professional internship? I know that Disney hires most of its candidates internally and that any road to get inside is a good road...

Any thoughts on this?

It's all about you, your performance, and your networking skills. The department you're in has a lot of weight on it too - some areas are almost exclusively interns (like Plant Science at Epcot) but others are larger departments staffed by TA's, full/part timers, interns, etc. and have more room to hire (pending there's space).

While here, meet as many people as you can; go to DLC classes as much as possible; and network network network.

Just out of curiosity, which internship was it that you applied for? I've also applied for a few Marketing/communications related internships.

From what I understand from the phone interview, it was for six different openings. Five of them were for Operations and one of them was for the College International program. What internships did you apply for?

Marketing Design&Technology Intern, Casting Mktng.
Copyright-Travel Industry Marketing Internship
Special Programs Marketing Internship
Disney Cruise Line Internal Communications Intern

According to DisneyCareers.com, the bottom two have been hired already. I had a second interview for the first one... and I really would like to hear soon!

Im currently in a professional internshp role and for my department, it will be almost impossible for me to get hired into. It's small and not a lot of movement! However, Im networking like crazy trying to get my name out there!! I think that's the best advice, and also let the department know your intentions and they will help you get to know people!!

I spoke with my future manager for my internship last night. I asked him the same question about permanent hire after internship. He said that 4 out of 5 of the current managers were hired right out of the internship. So it definately depends on the area where you are. It looks like I have a good chance of getting hired after I finish my internship. Good luck!!!!!

Zada--I must have missed it somewhere but did you get your internship???? CONGRATULATIONS!!! See you down here!!! :thumbsup2
