Hi all :)

can someone outline for me what the process will be to try and change resorts at 8am est next week?

I have two 6nt reservations for December and I want to try and change the first one to another resort. Its frustrating as there is availability presently for a resort I would love to try and never thought would be available (BCV) but I doubt it will be available next week when my 7 month window opens but anyway...

I will need to cancel my SSR reservation to make the other reservation but I do not know if I can check in the booking tool for the room I want and then go through to reserve it and cancel my other booking to free up points or should I cancel the SSR reservation before 8am - I know that I could technically end up with nothing but I am willing to risk it as I think I'll be ok for SSR if I need to rebook.

Ive only ever done this by phone but I want to do it online myself so hence the questions lol!

If I put in the booking and can only get say 4 out of 7 nights - will it let me then book the 4 nights in one booking and waitlist the missing ones or will it make me make a reservation for each set of nights if the row of 4 aren't together?

Hope this makes sense?? Just trying to be in the know before Wednesday to make the switch if possible - fingers crossed xx

Thanks for any help,

CK xx

You can only book the consecutive days that start 7 months out from the date you are trying to reserve. For example if you want Dec 15-22, and go online May 15 and see Dec 15-19 is open, you can book it and wait list the last three. However, if Dec 15 is not open and Dec 16 to 22 are, you cannot book anything but must waiat-list the whole thing because you cannot get the first date you need from which you are 7 months out. Another example, if on May 15, Dec 15 and 16 are open, Dec 17 is filled, and Dec 18-22 are open, the only dates you will be able to book are Dec 15 and 16.

There is only one way to make the resort switch at 7 months out online and avoid the risk of losing both reservations. Go here and see my post describing Supersnoop's procedure for doing so: http://www.disboards.com/threads/ma...the-process-can-you-go-ahead-of-time.3461485/

My understanding of the issue with missing nights then is that I can book as many of the nights that are attached to the first night up to the point where it would leave a gap and then to book the rest after the gap I would have to wait until the 7 month date for those until I have all 6 nights booked or waitlisted. Oh the stress!!!!!!!!

Im copying this here for my own info next week but I think it is exactly what I need to do and seems risk free - thanks again.

Supersnoops's procedure is as follows. It works only if you would have to borrow some of the points to make the new reservation if you did not cancel the exisitng one.

1. You need two different browers, e.g. Chrome and Internet Explorer (or use two different computers, e.g., a desktop and iPad). Sign into the DVC Member site with both browsers.

2. On one browser go to your existing reservation, click details, and get to the page where you can start cancellation of the exisitng reservation.

3. On other browser, start to set up your new desired reservation on the first page where you can make reservations and once done click to get to the availability page. If what you want is available, click to get to the next page where your reservation is locked in for 20 minutes and you choose points for the reservation. The points shown will be those left without the ones from the existing reservation. Choose the applicable contract(s) and the Borrow icon should come alive. Click on it to bring up the Borrow window and then do nothing.

3. Return to the other browser and cancel the prior reservation. Do absolutely nothing except the steps needed to complete the cancellation.

4. Return to the other browser and click "Cancel" in the Borrow window. The page will refresh itself and show all your points from the cancelled reservation. Now just continue as you would in choosing contracts and doing all the steps necessary to complete the new reservation within the remainder of the 20 minutes allowed

I have used the method twice and it has worked. Others have also reported success. There have been reports that there may be problems with the system when Poly is involved. That seems to be a continuation of the issue that there have been many problems with the system when Poly is involved, including actual availabilty of Poly not being shown correctly in the check availability tool and, in the reservation section, the system's showing availability and allowing you to to go to the page that locks in the reservation for 20 minutes when, in fact, there is no availability for what you want at Poly, and thus the system at some point before you complete the reservation just sends you back to the first reservation page.

Personally in December is always stuck with home resort it is such a busy time the risk of not getting a room is high

We save other resorts for less busy times
