problems with search

I tried doing a search just now (11:25pm ET) and i was replied w/ under minimum word length (10). I hope this is just a mistake.. but if it isn't, then here's a question: WHY?

I wondered if it was being talked about over here, and came over to ponder the very same question. The techs seem to have been working hard on the boards today, so I'm sure it'll be fixed soon. (I hope so at least, I miss my "search" ). Thanks Alex et all for all the time you've been spending fixing up the boards!

Since I assume that posts are stored in a gosh awful big database, it may be necessary to re-index the database after yesterday's "incident" in order to allow efficient searchs of posts.

That sounds just like what Alex said Towncrier. When asked about the search feature he responded that it was actually the 'search' function that contributed to the board crash of yesterday. He added that the 'search' function will esentially be non-functioning for some days, possibly a week or so, as the database is restored to operation.
