I have been having problems with the National website since Saturday night. It wouldn't let me login on Saturday and Sunday, and now it won't even come up. I have tried three different browsers on my Powerbook, cleared cookies, cache, history, reset my cable modem and wireless hub - nothing. My husband tries it on his PC laptop and he has gotten the page to come up a couple of times, but can't login. Anyone else had any problems? Any other ideas??? :confused3

Thanks. :)

Oh - if someone can get on their site, can you post or PM their tech email address? thnx

UPDATE: I guessed at their webmaster's email address, and they responded back that their website doesn't support Macs. This makes no sense since I could've made a reservation this weekend but it wouldn't let me login (I could have done it without logging in), and I made a reservation on my Mac two weeks ago!!! In fact, I have never used any other platform to make a reservation on their website, and I have been doing so for years. Sounds more like this person doesn't support Macs. So, if there are any Mac users out there, can you please try to access their website for me? I may just stop by the Apple Store and login to their network and see what happens. UGH!!!

Still not working for me. I tried an alternate DNS I found on a thread at Flyertalk (someone else has been having problems, too) and it didn't work either. And of course their tech support isn't an email address. :sad2:

I emailed my ISP, but still no response (they always try to blame the website). Ugh.

I will try when I get home from work(If I remember) please post a link to the site as well. they don't support mac, but the site(if it is nice looking anyways) was probably designed on one. :teacher:

LOL - you are so right!!! Thanks for checking for me. I have tried through the following:

www.nationalcar.com
http://12.43.146.10/
emeraldaisle.com

I emailed them again, explaining that I have made about 10 reservations on their website from my Mac over the past year so I don't understand why they are saying they have NEVER supported Macs. I even gave them the reservation numbers and asked them to investigate. UGH!!! I am going to go by the Apple Store with my Powerbook and see if I can get on there (which means my ISP and National are both wrong) sometime today.

Let me know what happens when you try to access their site. Thank you again!!! Mac users unite!!! :cool1:

I have a Mac and have not had any unusual problems as of 1:15PM EDT 8/2/05, using Safari on system 10.4.2.

I know it sounds rude, but if their site is properly designed they would have no need to "support Macs" as such. They cannot be expected to resolve individual problems. Your problem does sound like a provider/DNS problem, but it could be any number of things. (Please tell me you are not using AOL!)

Unfortunately their site is not at all well-designed; IMO it's a textbook case of poor design. The "can't log in" problem is one I've learned to avoid by the following tactics:
(1) from the home page, select the "rates and reservations" tab.
(2) on the resulting page, log into Emerald Club
(3) on the Emerald Club page, select "rates and reservations" again.

OMG - AOL...I use to use that on my Classic, LOL!!!

I am at the Apple Store right now on my PB and have had no problems making my ressies. The Guru thinks it's the cable modem (rented), since the site would not load via my wireless network nor directly connected to the modem via ethernet. Adelphia sucks - they didn't want to help me either since I am on a Mac!!!

The reason I contacted National's webmaster was because my ISP said it wasn't on their end and I read on another forum about others having problems. I have had problems with their website being down in the past, and wanted to see if something was down on their end. They turned it into a Mac issue, which is unfortunate.

Thanks for checking it out on your end. :)
