My son loves Yu-Gi-Oh cards. We purchased some cards off of Ebay and they are fake. I dont have the sellers address because he mailed them in a white plain envelope. My son is very upset because the bad man from New York sent us fake cards. This is very upsetting to him because he cant believe someone would sell fake cards. He got the same fake cards at the dollar store. THe man will not answer my emails. I emailed Ebay now. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Keep fighting this! Do not give up until your son gets his money back. Also, have you left negative feedback? Maybe this will help others.

I didnt do that yet, but I am. The guy isnt just ripping off adults, he is ripping off children too. Not many adults want the cards. My son is 9 and is crying because he feels that it is his fault that we ordered the cards. I am going to keep fighting it because I want my son to see that you can get most things resolved. He had so much postive feedback (only one neutral) but I am new to Ebay so I dont understand the feedback too much yet

The reason so many unethical sellers on Ebay don't receive negative feedback is that they blackmail their buyers. I guarantee you that if you leave the seller negative feedback he will leave you even worse feedback. It's an awful thing. Read some of the message boards on the Ebay site and you'll see what a huge thing "feedback blackmail" is. People are afraid to leave anything but positive feedback for fear of retribution. Ebay is a fine place to shop but make sure you email the seller before bidding and get a phone number and street adress. AND verify the info! Happy bidding!

How did you pay for the item? If via Paypal, file a complaint with them. Also be sure to file a complaint with eBay. Stay away from the feedback.

BTW: You can also file a complaint at the post office for mail fraud. Just be positive that it's a forgery.

I'd also contact the seller before doing any of the above things.

Can you post the auction number?

When you leave negative feedback, be factual and do not get personal or insulting toward the other party. That way, if someone later does their research and sees that you left a calm and factual comment and they didn't, it looks worse on the other party.

Before doing anything (even leaving feedback), contact the seller. You can get the seller's contact information (name, address, phone #) through eBay. Since you had a transaction with this person, I'm surprised you didn't get it anyway. Give them another chance to make it right. Chances are they may, but chances are they may not.

If they aren't willing to resolve it, then take further action. If you paid by Paypal, file a complaint through them. Also, file a dispute through eBay. If they advertised actual Yu-Gi-Oh cards but sent fake ones, it sounds like you have a case for an "Item not as described" dispute. I've never gone through one of those, so I can't talk you through it. Details for that should be on eBay.

If the seller agrees to a refund, they may insist on the item being returned before refunding money. Did your son open the packs? If so, they may not refund since the cards won't be in their original condition. In that case, file with Paypal (if that's how you paid) and leave negative feedback. If they do agree to refund, make sure you send with delivery confirmation. That way if they try to say they never received the item, DC will tell you that it was delivered.

I'm sorry you and your son are having to deal with this. Good luck!

using the help guide to find the link if you don't know how..but remember...contact information doesn't usually provide a street address..it only gives you the city..and a phone # if they have left it for ebay to provide...if they left a phone #...call them...you can also use the ebay console on your ebay page to open a dispute..and as another poster said..if you paid using paypal..file a complaint with them..though this will only provide you with help if you paid using a credit card...you will probably be told that you must return the cards to the seller before they will give you a refund..IF there is any $ in the sellers acct...if you did all this..and paypal won't refund you..file a chargeback with your bank/credit card company..and then persue mail fraud charges...and remember..if you leave negative feedback..and the seller is still registered..they can also leave you negative feedback...always, always, always check a seller's feedback carefully before bidding...both what has been left for them, and what they have left for others...good luck!

I would like to thank everyone. My problem has been solved. He refunded the money and let my son keep the cards. He even wants to send my son some money. Which I told him he doesnt have to do. I explained to him that my brother is a postal inspecter (which is true) and he said the cards arent his he was just selling them for someone. First it was his son then it was a friend. He doesnt want me to go to the post office. I am not doing that but I did report it to ebay because I dont want another boy or girl to be upset as him.

i HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS LATELY WITH A BAD SELLER. STILL TRYING TO RESOLVE IT. YES, DO MAKE SURE YOU FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST HIM.
YES, AND OF COURSE AS POSTED LEAVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK
GOOD LUCK!

Hi! I sell on Ebay and the problems they have are unreal. Anyway, fraud is a big deal and runs rampant. You want to file fraud complaints against the buyer through Ebay and PayPal. This is how you get your money back: File a complaint with PayPal that states you never recieved your item (you didnt b/c the seller sold you fakes). The seller will then have to provide tracking info - if he doesnt have any - which it sounds like a plain enevlope did not have any - PayPal will take your money from him and give it back to you and he cannot do anything about it. I emailed you the link from PayPal - it is burried on the page. You should have your money back in 10 days or less.

It is true so many sellers are black mailing the buyers. It just happened to me. I bought some Mickey and Minnie wine glasses, when the auction ended I paid right away, when I went through paypal and even the invoice he sent me, wouldn't give me the option to get insurance. Guess what? when I got them they were broke and when I contacted the seller he basically said too bad. I then file a complaint with payapl, thats when things got ugly. he emailed me nasty letters calling me all kinds of names. I was getting 3 a day from him. I finally gave up, it wasn't worth losing my 100% positive feedback, he threatened to leave me a negative even though I paid him and held up my end of the contract. The glasses were not just broke but missing pieces so they couldn't even be glued together. I learned a very valuable lesson, NEVER buy anything you can't insure~
