Problems with Booking through Orbitz and Adding Children

I booked a reservation through Orbitz today using the OUTTAHERE code. If I added my children to the reservation while booking, the prices would have been close to or over the Loews rate, so I booked with two adults and tried calling Orbitz to add the kids after the fact (which others on the boards have reported worked for them). The Orbitz agent had no issues, but when he called HRH to add the kids to the reservation, they wouldn't let him. He was told that I would have to cancel my reservation and rebook with the kids included. This contradicts what I have read repeatedly on these boards. It looks like I will have to keep my existing SMSM Garden room rate and cancel Orbitz (we were going to upgrade to Club Level). I am so frustrated! This is our first trip to the resorts, and we are celebrating my son's birthday. Does anyone have any suggestions, or did I do something wrong? The APH rates aren't very good for the dates we are going (1/9-1/13), so that doesn't help.

My only suggestion is try calling again and getting a different representative. If that doesn't work, try calling the hotel directly. I have seen people say they were successful in doing this also. You should be able to do it, be forceful and insist they need to add them after the fact because kids are free.

I would just call reservations again and say you want to add the kids. Shouldn't be an issue. I wouldn't involve Orbitz. As long as you booked a 2 queen room, you really don't even need to add the kids until you get there.

Absolutely agree. We did exactly that on our last trip - booked the adults using Orbitz and added the kids when we arrived. No problems at all. As long as the OP is confirmed in a room that sleeps 4, everything will work fine.

yup, talk to the resort. I asked today when is the latest you can add extra people to your room,& they said many people just add them on check in.
you just have to pay for the adults at $25.

Keep watching for changes in AP rates for the club rooms. If there is a surplus, they'll go down.

Here now-we booked through cheap tickets as two adults & added the kids (11 & 14h when we got here"...no issues at all!

Had the same problem in September with orbitz and had no problems adding my daughter at check in
