I called today to book a tour for 6/25 and was told it was "inactive". She stated it was due to lack of tour guides that day. What???? Are they all recovering from the POTC premiere, or what? I will try tommorrow for the 26th I guess.

Doesn't this just tick you off? We're headed out for our first trip on June 17 and really wanted to do the Discover the Magic tour--no luck.

Honestly, be glad you don't spend the money when things aren't open(I know easier said than done). We did Discover the Magic Sun of Thanksgiving week, yes everything was open, but at least half the characters we were supposed to talk to were unavailable. It was kind of disappointing. In your case with Tom Sawyer Island being closed, you would miss a major part of the fun.

I hope the rest of your trip is wonderful!

I am thankful that we won't be spending extra money and not getting the full experience, but at the same time this was something my DS was REALLY looking forward to (and me, too!). I had all these images of him acting totally goofy and loving every minute of it, running up to characters to give them an update on what happened on the last leg of their tour, and talking about the entire tour for years to come.

We don't have any plans to return to DL in the near future--by the time we may return he'll be too old for it (or too embarrassed).

I don't understand why there doesn't seem to be any extra staff that week. I would think they've hired out the installation of the bleachers/transformation of the red carpet area to another company and there would be tons of CMs available for tours and character meet and greets.

I had the same problem yesterday when I tried to book the 50th Anniversary Tour for June 25th. I called this morning and I was able to book the tour for June 26th at 2:00 PM. I guess everything will be up and back to "normal" by then. They are only offering one tour that day though, instead of the usual three or four.

If you are there for the 23rd of June they are booking the 5oth tour for 2pm. YOu get a choice of viewing the nighttime parade in a reserved section or the fireworks.

Hope that helps.
