Problems booking a room 11 months out at BCV?

Hello all. I've been on a waitlist for quite a while to join DVC at BCV and BWV. An offer for BCV just came up and I need to make a decision soon. The only thing holding me back is something I heard from my mom. My mom booked at BCV in June for an October stay through Disney (1 bedroom) without a problem. She mentioned that she read a thread on the boards about people booking at BCV 11 months out for an October stay getting waitlisted. We couldn't find the thread when we searched.

Is this a problem anyone on the board has experienced? If you did get waitlisted, did you get a room for October? We travel in October for the F&W Festival so if I can't get a room 11 months out at BCV, that will likely alter our decision. I greatly appreciate any info on the subject.

Thanks,

GLD

As you can tell from my siggie, we go quite often in the oct-dec timeframe....Never waitlisted yet and we always stay at BCV.

We got a June 07 reservation at BCV about 6 weeks ago. Now if you want a dedicated two bedroom with two queen beds in the second bedroom, you might have to go on a waitlist for that.

Never been waitlisted at 11 months and Oct/Nov is our favorite time to go. You can call day by day if need be. Just booked a studio for next october and it was a couple of days afetr the 11 month window.

We own at VWL but stay at Beach Club Villas for Food and Wine Festival. We book day by day at the 7 month window. Only been waitlisted for one of the days but it came through several weeks later. No worries at 11 month window.

Everyone has the same chance to book as owners at BCV at the 11-month mark, so just call day by day as soon as you can, and I see no reason why you would be on a waitlist.

I remember the thread the OP is referring to. The person on that thread was not waitlisted at the beginning of the 11 month window, but at 9 months out. We do not know whether s/he got the ressie later, but I would assume so.

Early booking has always been the best way to get what you want with DVC. If you are willling to call at our 11 month window, I wouldn't worry too much about not being able to get a room for your dates.

The other thread was also posted prior to MS enforcing the policy of 1 transfer per year, so that may also have a positive influence on availability.

It is a smaller resort in terms of # of rooms, so if you want to stay there in ocotber, which is during the F&W Festival time, you would probably have to book sooner as opposed to later to get a room. Obviously having the 11 month window would be an advantage, since at 7 months, all DVCers have an equal booking chance.

It also depends on how pareticular you are about your room wants vs. needs.

I waitlisted for a two bedroom at the 9 month window for the first week in Dec. and just got my waitlist about a month ago (after a complaint because they "lost" my waitlist...." I checked about once a month and was on automatic accept......)

I'll always do the 11month mark now on :thumbsup2

I booked a 2 Bedroom at BCV for August 07 at the 11 month window without any problems. I wanted a 2 Bedroom at BCV for 1/21/07-1/25/07 (booked in August) and had to take 2 studios. I waitlisted for the 2BDRM and it came through on Wednesday.

We've booked BCV at the 11 month mark for October the past 5 years and never had problems. I've never called day by day, just booked the whole reservation 11 months from our check out day. :thumbsup2

Ditto... I think MS has done the right thing and we DVC'rs will find it a little bit easier to get our dates... Hoping anyways. I don't think you will have problems. Go for it! :thumbsup2

Just last month, we were able to get a reservation for a 2BR at the BCV for the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights leading up to Columbus Day weekend on ONE days notice.

I wouldn't worry about an 11 month reservation at all. IMHO very few people are unable to get exactly what they want at 11 months.

I generally book BCV for October in December or January (I am not that organized for the day by day thing.... LOL!) So far so good!

Thanks for the info. We made the decision to move forward with the purchase. Happy to be joing the DVC family. All of your feedback was very helpful as the 11 month waitlist issue was our only concern. Just curious, are there any resorts or types of rooms that are difficult to book 8-11 months out (with the execption of the big holidays). Thanks again.

Yes. Standard view rooms at the BWV' get taken quickly and often aren't available inside of 8 months. Grand Villas at the BWV (only 7 of them) and at OKW (low points), two queen dedicated 2BR's at the BCV get booked quickly because there are so few of them too and Boardwalk view room because they are a special reservation category that is limited.

The period between Christmas and New Year's, especially New Year's eve goes quickest. Only one time was I not able to get a standard 2BR on New Year's eve when I booked at 11 months. But I was able to get a preferred view room for that night. We go during the busiest times of the year and always book at 11 months and have never had a problem, even booking the types of rooms I described above.

BTW: Welcome to the Dis-Boards.

Umm...I think that might've been me!! (I know twotoohappy did too). I was waitlisted at 9.5 months out for early December (the 7th, I think). I honestly don't know whether or not it would've come thru, because we cancelled that trip when we decided to go to Europe.

However, ITA with Chuck. I do think the the "1 transfer" rule has opened up a LOT of availability. I think most resorts will be really easy to get into for awhile....until DVC adds a couple of new resorts and 50,000 members or so....then, things might tighten up again.

What's the 1 transfer rule?

Disney had been allowing unlimited transfers in or out of an account. It is believed that some people were accumulating points and renting prime weeks out. Disney began limiting transfers to one per year, either into or out of your account. Thus the "1 transfer rule" got its name.

I've never transferred points, I just keep buying more when I'm out ;)
