Maybe we need to know how to write "mousekeeping" in spanish!!
Can we not turn this into a debate on if we should or shouldn't tip housekeeping? Two of the last four posts have stated that houskeeping isn't tipped. I don't want to see this thread closed because people start aruging about it. I'm just looking for ideas on how to get housekeeping to take a tip.
You wanted to know why housekeeping didn't take your tips that you left for them, the union contracts that they settled last year stated that it wasn't a tipped position & accepting tips was grounds for firing. I'm not arguing whether or not it should be a tipped position, just saying why your tips were left untouched.
Has anyone else had the problem of the Mousekeeper not taking his/ her tips?
On my last stay at the CR I made up the cute envelopes for the mousekeepers and turn down service but every time I returned to the room the room was clean and the tip was still there.
Some days I even taped the envelope to the mirror or pillows but still no luck.
Should I just chuck the envelopes?

We've always left tips but ...Man, I don't want to get anyone fired.
I don't want to create debate but thought I would throw my "inside" information out there. When I worked as a cast member in 2003 I was in a non tipped position. At THAT time the Disney rule was as a non tipped cast member I COULD NOT accept a tip from a Disney guest. However, there was a clause that if the guest offered the tip 3 times and I said "no" and then they offered a 4'th time I could accept. I don't know if these rules have changed. I would maybe ask the mousekeeping or ask at the front desk what the rules are for tipping so you can follow them? Just a suggestion. I know when I was a CM I was scared to accpet a tip because we were told that if we were seen taking a tip and not following the rules we could be fired. So now I always ask CMs what the rule is if I want to tip them - that way they get their tip and I am happy.
So what's the rule on leaving a CM, maid in this case, a small gift. I normally give them a candle, a mug with some tea, bath oil beads, etc plus a tip. I too wouldn not want to have someone lose their job.
