I just found out that my party of 4 may become a party of 2. Will I be able to change my ADRs to 2 or will I have to start over and cancel them and rebook? I have 6 ADRs including CRT, Ohana, CG and LC. Would hate to loose them.

I changed my ADR's from 8 people to 6 people today. Had no problems with doing it by phone. We have O'Hana's, HDDR and Le Cellier. We leave in 1 week!

When that happened to me last year I just kept my existing reservations and when I went to the podium told the host/hostess that we were now a party of two.

Out of courtesy, I would call and downsize your party from 4 to 2. Then the restaurant knows that they can give you a two-top and save the four-top for another party - that may also have downsized say from 6 to 4 people or upsized from 2 to 4 people.

Now if you were upsizing from 2 to 4, it would be a bit more problematic, because they would have to find a second two-top to combine to make a four-top.

While the other poster said they just walked up to the podium and did so, and were met with no problem, the host staff is supposed to be accommodating to all parties with reservations when they can. You don't realize the level of stress that causes when that happens all night long. The staff spends time trying to move around tables to accommodate everyone, if every group that walked up to the podium had more/less people in their party.

However, wouldn't it have been nicer if they knew ahead of time and could have changed the reservation - allowing the restaurant to plan ahead much more easily.

After eating out in restaurants for years, I see the hoops staff go through to accommodate people who might have easily made the adjustments before they left.

When I called Disney Dining ahead of time I was told there were no reservations for two available and I had to keep what I had or lose the reservation entirely. Since I booked months in advance (back when you could book at 180 days out) for that particular restaurant there was no way I was giving up my reservation there. It was actually suggested by the CM at Disney Dining that I do it this way.

I would try to down size as many as you can. That allows other guest a table that now is available.

Things happen and you can't always show up with the number that you booked the table for. You can show up and let them know that you only have 2.

This happened to me last year with my neighbours. They decided a few times not to go. We ended up waiting longer for a smaller table, but were seated. Hopefully, someone got a walk up table as we didn't need the larger one.
