I was looking at Disney mechandise on Ebay. You should see how much refillable mugs are going for

Is it true they are selling mugs?

If not, this is funny.
If so it becomes hilarious.

Sad but true. Someone bid $20 for a Pop Mug. I just checked & there's only a couple for sale now.

ahh Convention tickets. Sometimes they're only good for certain dates, and you may have to show proof that you're at the convention to get in. They're geting sticky about it.

At most conventions, the only "proof" one has of attendance is the badge you get when you register on arrival. If Disney expects convention attendees to actually bring those to the park gate, they would be probably be communicating that on the ticket itself. While it could have changed, they weren't doing that back in late 2004 when I attended a conference and used one these tickets.

Even if they are doing it now, I suspect the CMs at the gates are continually facing attendees (particularly spouses and family members) who don't have or forgot/misplaced their conference badge. And I'd be surprised if they are actually turning all those people away.

Yeah...the refillable mugs on ebay cost $20...but the seller said you can refill them at all resorts, and in the parks!!! :rolleyes1

I didn't catch the part about filling up at the parks. I guess alot of people don't do their research before bidding. There in for a shock.

I contacated a seller off of ebay regarding tickets. He actually sells convention tickets. They were cheaper than anything Disney had at the time and perfect for us. If we weren't going on a package next time, I would buy from him again in a heartbeat. You just have to do your homework.

LMAO fill em up at the resorts the parks....

See the trouble is, once people get the mug, they'll leave positive feedback which cannot be changed. Then once they get there and they find out the mug is useless... Well a fool and his money I suppose.

Disney ought to put a magnetic strip on the mug where they can encode it and the drink dispenser can read it and not activate it if it's invalid.

LMAO I'd love to be a fly on that wall.

Sir. You can't fill that mug here.
I was told I could.
By whom.
By the guy I bought it from
Oh at Pop there. Well what was his name. Let me call over and..
I paid $20 for this mug and by golly, I'm going to get my $20 worth of stuff that I paid for....
$20, the Mugs barely cost half that.
I'm telling you I payed $20!!
And where did you say you paid that again?
I didn't, but I bought it on Ebay and he said....

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

I disagree with those who generalize that buying any tickets off of eBay is risky.

Buying Disney tickets off of eBay is the DEFINITION of "risky." There are no identifying marks on the passes allowing the owner to verify the content of the pass until they actually arrive at the gates. A completely used (and valuelss) ticket looks identical to a brand new ticket will all of the features intact.

Want to pay full price at the gate? Be my guest.
I don't remember anyone saying anything about paying full price. There are many reputable dealers out there that offer handsome discounts off of gate pricing. Much more reliable than ebay.

The bottom line for buying anything on eBay is review the feedback ratings of the seller. Credible sellers are those with (a) high percentages of positive feedback from a wide range of long term buyers and (b) who have been selling on eBay using the same I.D. for a long time (ergo, years, not months).

That's all well and good...until you run into someone with good intentions who forgets the exact content of their passes. An advertised "four day hopper" may only have three days remaining because the owner forgot about the quick trip he/she made into Epcot to pick up a souvenir before heading to the airport.

Read HLAuburn's story above. Textbook case. Luckily that seller was honest enough to resolve the sitaution amicably. Others have not been so lucky, and it didn't spare HLAuburn the embarassment and disappointment of not being able to use the ticket as it was advertised.

Fortunately Disney addressed this long-time problem with MYW passes and biometric scanning (which is not fingerprinting, BTW).

Seems to me, most of the posters on this very thread who have done it have had a positive experience buying ebay tix. The one who bought them off of DISauctions actually got an extra day that they didn't pay for.

Using the one negative post as "textbook" seems a bit unusual to me personally, but what do I know? And, the seller refunded the difference to HLAuburn, so no harm, no foul.

Thanks for all of the responses!
