Problem With New Member Website!

TimC, are you able to get back in?

This is what I posted would happen yesterday. This ALWAYS happens when companies change their websites with special passwords, etc. There is always a problem. I checked here first before even bothering to register. I knew it,lol.

Your Disney Vacation Club ID is not valid, please try entering it again.

D'oh!

I have to admit... I wasn't surprised either. When you make a lot of code changes, your bound to miss a bug or two. And the way they promoted this, we knew it was going to see peek volumes early on. Oh well... it won't ruin my day. :p

Nope. I just tried again. Do we know when it went exactly it stopped working?

I don't expect it to go live until regular business hours today. I don't think they will download the new IDs and passwords until someone's regularly scheduled shift. I would hold off until after 8AM EDT.

Still not working, received the error message regarding my ID. I guess they don't have the system up and running yet!!

They should have given a different number to call with problems. I can only imagine how busy MS is going to be today. This should be interesting.

I had the exact same problem. I think we all were trying to create a user ID, at the same time.

Actually... many of us were able to get in already. I was able to register at about 2am, so the ID's are there. I think the site crashed.

We're sorry, but the system is currently down. Please try again in 15 minutes, or for further assistance, call Member Services at XXX-XXXx. Please note that Member Services hours of operation are Monday ? Friday 9:00 a.m. ? 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time and Thursdays until 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time; Member Services is closed on weekends and major holidays and experiences its heaviest traffic on Mondays and Tuesdays.

As Cindy sang it... " Someday my web site will come':teeth:

New DVC head picks up phone and calls his tech group......"The site is WHAT???? MS phone lines are jammed with concerned members and people can't get in for reservations????

Oh my! I need a vacation!"

Jeez,
After all the fluff about the new site , then it doesn't work, talk about turning something from a positive thing into a big negative.

What was it like when you were there? Anything interesting?

Tuesday morning, 8:27 AM EDT - still can't get into new website. I just don't understand how this can happen. I design computer systems for a living and there is such a thing as testing. Evidently DVC did very little testing or this would not have happened. Typical.

Looking at the public areas of the site, it doesn't seem that it has been completed. Some resorts have virtual tours, floor plans etc., some do not. I agree that for a media company to have such problems is almost laughable.

Why on earth are they saying to call Member Services? Do they want to see if they can get the entire DVC reservation system to grind to a halt?

Well, there's testing, and then there's testing....what works with a couple hundred concurrent test connections doesn't always work when you have a dozens of thousands of rabid DVCers all trying to log in at the same time.

Also, don't discount the world of ne'er do wells who dont have anything better to do with their lives...if DVC is running a M$ cluster maybe they got hosed by the latest variant of the joys of using the #1 operating system in the world.

So, for those who did get in...is it worth it?

I have not been able to register either. I do like what I have seen so far. It does seem some of the stuff needs tweaking. I suspect the site will be heavily used today. I think some understanding is needed. I will try again in a bit. pirate: :earsboy:  :jester:

Okay, I understand that everyone is excited and anxious to see what is on the site, but let's not overreact.

A friend of mine is in Bank Operations at one of the largest banks in the world -- they had been working on a new application for 6 months and it had been HEAVILY TESTED and they went on line with it last Monday, only to find that it did not work! They have some of the best IT people money can buy. These things happen. It is going to take some time to get all the glitches out. I think we should all be patient. I certainly do not think the first day glitches turn something positive into a big negative. ;)
