Just returned from two nights at PO.

Booked on the phone at FL resident rate for 2 rooms. Used mousesavers website to look up discounts and noticed the FEU $50/room dining card offer. Called and just asked for any discounted rooms available there and the helpful agent VOLUNTEERS w/o me mentioning it that there was the $129/night rate AND that the $50 per room dining cards would be provided. So that seemed to confirm to me that the mousesaver info was correct. Our check in date was 12/15 for the minimum 2 nights and matched the offer details on the website.

The confirmation we got didn't mention the card, but I had checked here and others said they didn't have anything written about it in their confirmations either, so I figured no problem and didn't want to pester them calling to ask about it if it was routine.

We arrived at resort, checked in, just knew I forgot something, and an hour later realized the person checking us in mentioned nothing about the $50/room dining credit, nor did we receive the usual resort information pack with maps, etc. He seemed to be a pro, but maybe he was new, we figured. So we called the front desk and they claimed complete ignorance of any offer of this sort, said they had never heard of it, and that they had to transfer us to central reservations.

So after a while on hold, someone else comes on and says they also are unaware of this offer with our reservation. They put my wife on hold again and after about 15 minutes with no one coming on the phone, we were running late for a show at the park my niece wanted to see, so we finally gave up. We were too busy after that to call again. Our party spent well over $100 on dining during the two days but had to pay cash since the room cards weren't showing any credit. My parents spent over $50 on their first meal the night they arrived.

Is Disney playing games here? Surely not. Have others had problems with this offer?

What recourse do you think is fair? I don't plan to return for many years, if ever. We've pretty much seen it all. We went to take a young niece. It's not the money but the principle that they induce a visit to a local with a discount offer and didn't follow through. I'm sure the hassle of collecting from them would outweigh the $100 involved.

Finally, is there a way to write or email disney to get an answer? The central reservation number is trying my patience. I had a problem with magical express vouchers not arriving also and after 3 phone calls to follow up as the weeks passed they still never sent my father's voucher even though two others did arrive from the same reservation, which was strange. They claimed they sent it twice but I had it resent to a different address and it didn't arrive there either, so I think there's a problem with some CSR's getting the info into the system correctly.

Also my room card would not activate the security gate coming in at night as the guard confirmed it should. There were a few other things not up to par at the resort that I noticed such as rotten candy in vending machines, shrubs months past needing pruning (in the biz and know what 3 months of growth looks like) and poor efficiency at the food court that we haven't experienced at other resorts. Is the problem PO French Quarter?

Happy to report that I got a call back from Disney corporate and they are sending out two $50 disney gift cards. He stated that the package people failed to add the dining credit, it was an oversight, but that the staff onsite should have been able to correct it and should not have given us the runaround. He also stated he would pass on the feedback and also make sure they knew better how to handle this in the future.

So Kudos to disney. We may go back and use the cards in February now, rather than going elsewhere as planned. Amazing how good service makes a company more profitable, not less.
