problem with brakes on the baby jogger city elite?

Anyone else have problems with there baby jogger city elite.
or any of the other baby joggers with the brake release up by the handle bars?

I was at the zoo today, when the brakes locked up, wouldn't disengage, and then had to fiddle with it to loosen enough to at least push the stroller back to the car.http://www.wdwinfo.com/images/smilies/furious.gifhttp://www.wdwinfo.com/images/smilies/furious.gif

I'm so frustrated, I call baby jogger, and you guessed it the brakes are only covered for 1 year, and I'm on year 2.

So I have to pay to have the part shipped, and right now my main stroller for walking in the parks, and going places is out of commission.

If you have a buy buy baby near you, you may want to bring it there and see what they can do. They have excellent customer service for that sort of thing.

I called buy buy baby since that is where we purchased the stroller and they said that we needed to call the manufacturer since we purchased the stroller in 2011. I was disappointed with them too.

Good news, after corresponding with baby jogger they are going to send me a replacement part.
Kind of sad it isn't standard procedure over the phone to help the customer out when you call. Like, ow will take care of that sorry for the problem and send out the part. Immediately fix the problem, instead of that's going to cost you xx, then if you complain a while they say let me talk to my manager, let me send you something, ....

Now I have 3-5 business days without my big beefy stroller. At least this didn't happen the week before a disney trip. That would have really sucked.

At least you got it fixed. Sorry but buy baby wasnt more helpful. At least you explored all your options and I think found one that suits you (with the exception of the awesome stroller being out of commission)

Just bought our first baby jogger from buy buy baby earlier this year so here's hoping it holds up! It's supposed to make it through additional kids we don't have yet.

If you wouldn't mind reporting back how the replacement part goes, I'd appreciate it.

Ok, so the parts came today.

My current baby jogger city elite has the hand brake.

The replacement part they sent me is a bar that would replace my current bar down where the bake wheels are. So I would not longer have a hand brake anymore.

Kind of disappointed, I have an email in to find out whats up with this.

Ok, got an email back apologizing for sending the old brake assembly.
They are shipping out the newer brake assembly. So it's another 3-5 days before it shows up?
Frustrated!!! Why wouldn't they send the current one to begin with?

Replacing the brakes was easy.
Flip the stroller upside down, pop off the back wheels.
Unscrew 2 screws, pop off that whole bar.
Put the new bar on.

Unhinge where the brake line is fed.
Unscrew one screw where the handbrake is (this was more of a pain, because I needed a short screw driver and had to remove part of the seat) to get to the screw. Slide the old hand brake off and the new one back on. Secure screw.

It works great.

They sent me a part to replace on the wheels in event is was damaged by the brakes. But that too was for the wrong stroller.
That part looks a little more difficult to replace, but will have to wait for the correct part.
