Problem in booking with DU & document receipt??

Is it the norm for people who book thru Dreams Unlimited to NOT get their cruise docs until the last minute? Is it because DU clients are all lumped together and referred to as a "group booking," from what I've been told by DCL? I'm very disappointed that we have not received ours yet for the 9/14/02 cruise.

Last year I booked directly thru DCL and received the docs six weeks in advance of our departure date, even though DCL's official statement on receipt of docs is 10-14 days prior to sailing.

Everyone who books directly thru DCL seems to get their docs very early. I don't know what's going on with the DU booking.

Hi Carol!

Documents are sent directly to the client when you book with Dreams and there is no difference if the sailing is in a group booking status. Documents can be sent anywhere from 2-6 weeks in advance and depend upon the volume of documents going out from DCL.

If you have concerns about your documents feel free to contact Dreams and have them check on when yours will be processed and sent. They will be happy to help! :)

Michelle,

I e-mailed Donna at Dreams Unlimited this past Friday inquiring about the documents and still have not gotten a reply. I don't know what's going on.

I also contacted DCL directly and was told that because my reservation was made through DU that it was considered a group reservation and they said that may be why there's a delay in processing the documents. I only know what they told me.

We've booked two cruises so far, one through the Disney Vacation Club and one through Dreams Unlimited. Both times our documents arrived about 4 weeks ahead of our sailing date.

I know how hard it is to wait for those documents to show up. But just think how happy you will be when they arrive.

I'm not even sure how many cruises we've booked with Dreams!!! We have always gotten our documents very promptly. One of our three upcoming cruises is listed as "group" in the docs., but that did not cause any delay.

I'll be thrilled IF the documents show up!

Right now I'm quite worried that there's been some mistake or problem with our reservation as it seems, from what I've been reading, that we're the only ones from the 9/14 cruise that haven't gotten our docs yet.

I've read of people who are on cruises that sail AFTER ours that have gotten their documents already!

It seems that you still are 28 days out and if they state between 2-6 weeks that you still have about 1week before you are getting really close.....

from what I've been reading, that we're the only ones from the 9/14 cruise that haven't gotten our docs yet.

The amount of families that post on these boards only represent a fraction of the people actually taking the cruise...I'm sure it's very frustrating to be at the end of the document arrival group....but I don't think you should worry that something is wrong quite yet.....Take a deep breath and try to wait a few more days.....Hopefully Donna will get back to you and give you a little more security.....

You e-mailed Donna at DU over the weekend and she has not replied as yet? Unusual for her. HMMmmmmm .. Maybe she is out on vacation. Try e-mailing someone else at DU like maybe the general reservations or customer service e-mail address. I don't think it could hurt.

Hang in there, I'm sure they will get to you soon!

My documents are gonna get to me real slow .... they gotta come all the way across the water! Hope they can swim! :)

If I recall, sometimes those who use DCL air tend to receive their documents later as the flight information is one of the last pieces finalized and inserted into the booklet.

Perhaps Donna is tracking the documents down - we've worked with her in the past and she has been great! Hopefully your documents will be arriving at your door any day now!

We found that we got our docs just as fast when we booked through Dreams as when we booked direct with DCL. I agree to write at someone else at Dreams. Donna is usually very prompt so if she hasn't responsed I would think she might be on vacation or sick.

We're on the 9-7 and ours are scheduled to be delivered tomorrow so hang in there!

We didn't book our air thru Disney. I did that on my own, so that wouldn't be what the hold up is.

I agree about Donna.....she's always very prompt in replying to any e-mail I've ever sent her. Maybe she is on vacation as Paul said.

I guess we were just "spoiled" last year with getting our documents so early. We were able to get excited earlier!

My issue with not getting them yet this time, as I mentioned earlier, is that from what I've read on other threads, some people who have cruises booked that sail after ours have already gotten their docs. I don't see how DCL can send out those docs when the ones for cruises that sail earlier than that haven't even been processed or sent yet.....doesn't make sense!

Hi Carol,
When I checked earlier today for someone else, their 09/14 docs had not been printed either, so rest assured, it is not just you.

I have had the pleasure of seeing how the documents are printed and the booklets put together and it is VERY cool!! We did ask about how far in advance they print docs and they said that it depends on how busy they are, sometimes guests will get them 2 weeks in advance and sometimes 6 weeks.

I will be away from Wed. to Sun. (on a cruise training our agents!) but if you email me at reservations@dreamsunlimitedtravel.com on Monday, I will check for you again.
Have a great cruise!
Cathy

Just as I finished typing my previous post, I received an e-mail from Donna at DU. She said she looked into the docs issue and DCL said they have been "released to go to print." She said we might expect them around the end of the week.

I am sure glad to hear that.....I planned this trip for twenty family members and would feel very badly if there were any glitches.

Cathy,

Thanks so much for your reply....I will keep my fingers crossed that we'll have the documents by Monday.

Enjoy your "cruise training trip." :smooth:

Oh boy! Glad to hear that Donna got back to you on this. Hope you do get those docs soon.
