Probably Not a Popular Post - But!!

There is a BIG difference between a child having an accident and one that is NOT potty trained!

As my dear old Great Great Aunt used to say, when having been caught eating her dessert before her meal, " It doesn't matter, it all comes out the same in the end" !!

What I believe Katdb is trying to say, is that, the result of the 'accident or non-potty training' is the same !! The blame however for non-potty trained children having the results of their non-potty training, floating around the pool, rests with the parents!!!

Accidents DO happen, even for some of us of the 'many years trained' age who have lost some of their bladder tone but not their sense of humour. In the case of young children having 'accidents', maybe a sign posted near the pool reminding parents to encourage their children to visit the washroom before entering the pool.

Sometimes 'life and  just happen, and thats when we need to just go with the flow :( !! Yes I am trying to make a little play on words so please no yelling at me.:wave2:

e.coli is still e.coli and if a child has an accident, whether potty trained or not - or even if an adult has one, precautions have to be taken.

Why play Russian Roulette and place a child that is unable to control their bladder and bowel functions in that situation? It's both embarassing to the child and dangerous for others.

It was great to read posts from some good parents. We all need to keep watch over our kids at any time. Just because it is a Disney cruise, you can't expect Disney to take total control. When speaking of potty training, lying about kids being trained really hurts the child when they have an accident. During that transition time, kids get excited and sometimes forget. My son did this until he was almost 5. Very embarrassing. I finally started putting him in the extra large Goodnite pants when he went to parties or I anticipated him having an exciting day.
This really kept him from the embarrassment of having wet pants and being sent home.
If he had an accident, no one knew but him. He just needed a little more time.
The rules are there to protect us all. No one wants to get in a pool with little kids who aren't potty trained and we all know the kids bring home so many other germs from just about every other place they go.:jester:

We really have to speak up about obeying the rules no matter who is breaking them or how much they spent to get there::yes::

I have to agree with most of the stuff that has been said here and having the knowledge that I now have I will assume the pool will be closed for some time during my 1st cruise. Guess what? SO WHAT...life will go on.

One thing that did bother me, however, was the many different people who seem to indicate that leaving your kid in the kids clubs for more than a couple of hours was poor parenting. I really hate to say it (not really) but that is no indication of the kind of parent you are. There are many many many things more important that this and people need to stop making assumptions about other people's situations.

For instance, if you see a parent scrapping a child off of their leg that is crying as they try to leave the club...how do you know they didn't go back 5 mins later to make sure everything was ok?

I also don't mind saying that YES..I do sometimes enjoy a break from my children. I feel like I am a better mom when I have some alone time.

This thread seemed to turn into a best parent contest.
