Probably asked already but what are your thoughts on the Paddock Pool?

I was wondering, with the new pool at SSR being put in do you think that it's going to be added to the NO hop list? If this is posted somewhere else im sorry. We are going in September and are staying on points at BCV and AKL and would like to check it out, but have a feeling it's going to be a no go on the pool hopping. What do you think? :confused3 Thanks in advance! :thumbsup2

Yes I think it will eventually and I think wristbands will be coming too. Not so much that members will be a problem but freeloaders.

Wait a minute, you are staying at Beach Club Villas and you are coming to SSR to swim, lordy the sky is falling lol

Plus no offense to you but truly is it fair you can come to the Paddocks pool but members staying at SSR can not go to either the BCV or AKL pool.

The other pools at SSR aren't on the no hop list so I don't think this pool will be treated differently, but I could be wrong.

Sammie, I think the BCV, AKV DVC's can't accommodate hoppers because they share their pools with hotels (Yacht Club, AKL). Those pools could become very crowded with additional guests and that wouldn't be fair to those owners or paying guests.

I don't think the problem is as much sharing as pool crowding prior to DVC. (BW/BWV and FW/VWL do not restrict hopping)

While SSR's main pool was often crowded, they never restricted hopping. The new Paddock pool will help ease those crowds.

And while the extra slide, zero entry and TS food are much welcome additions to SSR, (giving Paddock and Carousel a more obvious desirable feature) I've not heard it is expected to be top 3 pool in WDW good.

Drove by yesterday after golf and we were a little surprised by the size of the slide, after all the hoopla, we thought it would be longer.

We "hopped" to the Poly on our May long weekend and the Recreation staff came around checking for room keys (we had our DVC card) and giving out wristbands. They actually sent some people packing. That was the first time other than BCV I have seen that done. And this wasn't a holiday weekend nor was it particularly full.

I was happy to see it done actually.

Interesting, in all my years at the various pools, even SAB, I've never seen anyone being asked to leave. I observe the rules, it is kind of nice to see them enforce the rules for once!

I think the Paddock Pool is a cute and much needed addition to SSR, but I don't think many people will make it a destination if they're not staying there. I give it 8:1 odds that they will not restrict access to the Paddock pool.

On the topic of wristbands:
Wristbands work in the parks, and I wish they'd bring them back for EMH. However, at the pools, where far fewer people added can make an unbearable crowd, I think they need something other than wristbands which can be passed off. I think embedded microchips programmed with your hotel and dates of stay along with laser guided missiles targeted on the perpetrators might work. :goodvibes

Thanks for the responses guys. As far as us using the pool, this will be our first ever stay as a DVC member and first time to BCV, we stayed for one night at Kidani once to try it out but it was during that cold snap and couldn't swim. I am looking forward to using SAB and my kids are pumped as well.

I don't know if we would ever actually pool hop but like to know what the rules are in case we stay there some time.

As far as not being fair...I semi agree because I would like to try out the BLT pool and the top of the world lounge as well but I didnt make up the rules so I'm going to just go with the flow. To be honest pool hopping probably shouldn't be allowed at all, but who am I to judge.

Anyways thanks for the thoughts and comments it's always interesting to see what others are thinking. :thumbsup2

Wow.. I'm glad to see it done as well.

OP: I think the new SSR pool sounds great. I hope you check it out.

I think the pool is needed, and a good addition to SSR. Pool hopping is allowed and I would like to see the perk continued with the present pool and time slot restrictions. We have only pool hopped once, four years ago, but many members like to do it and so my vote would be to continue it.:thumbsup2

Pool hopping is restricted mostly at the area's that are high traffic area's like the monorail resorts, BCV because of SAB and seems to be the newest rage at any of the DVC's when they first open up. I doubt they will add SSR...if they did, most likely they would just eliminate the pool hopping altogether.

Is the new pool open yet? Or is there a date it will be? Disney Files just said "coming soon". TIA!
