But could someone please explain to me how these are practical?

I have looked at them at my DS several times, and I just don't get it. I understand how the padded "envelopes" protect the pins, but if they are all dumped together in an envelope, how do you keep them organized?

If you want to show someone your "trades" and have too many for a lanyard, how are people able to browse through your bag, or don't they?

It would seem to me that books would be much more practical, yet I know people don't use them for their traders... why not?

I think it is both a matter of preference and convenience. There are alot of people who keep their traders in a binder...either an "official" Disney binder, or one of their own making (most use either felt, foamys or baseball card pages). My problem with using a binder for traders is that it can get cumbersome to carry, so then you need something like a tote bag or backpack. This is why I like the pin trading backpack that is available at WDW. It is just the right size for me, easy to carry and displays the pins nicely.

I have the large WDW pin bag and the small 100 Dreams bag.
Honestly, I haven't even looked at the small one.
The large one is handy because it has a shoulder strap. I have a small binder I use to carry my traders. That binder fits perfectly in the velcro pouches.
When I go into the parks I do switch around a few pins. Right now, I have a few traders (besides the small binder) in my bag. But I use the bag mostly for storage. Plus I keep extra pin cards, bags, backs, etc in the pin bag.

HI!

I think I may understand what you are saying.

The pin bags like at The Disney Store has the "pouches" for pages. You are supposed to pin the pins on the pages. You do not put the pins inside the pouches. Then you can browse the pages. You can put your extras inside and replenish the ones you trade away.

My keepers are either in frames or in binders.

Hope that helps

Debbie

Are the pin bags at WDW like the Disney Store ones, just bigger? I need a bigger one but I like the style of the Disney Store one.

Thanks to all who cleared this up for me!

Debbie, it never occurred to me to pin the pins to the outside of the envelopes! I guess you have to line them up carefully so they don't scratch each other, huh?

I don't know, though... I have the baby's diaper bag, and since I'm the MOM I carry all the other stuff too. Doesn't that pinbag seem like a lot more to lug around WDW?

Any suggestions on how else to carry my 20-25 traders? Lanyards are too heavy!

Heavy - why of course they aren't heavy - LOL!!

Speaking as someone who lugged 4 trade bags to the Pin Event I can guarantee you it's better than having a personal trainer.

I have a rolling back pack which actually you can stuff 3 pin bags in. But then again my baby is 17 yo so I haven't had a diaper bag for a couple of years. What I usually do is invest in a locker for my bag until I know I am going somewhere it will be necessary and wear a few on my lanyard for CM trading. I also carry 1 or 2 "good" traders in my waist pack just in case.

How about this one...I've seen and am interested in purchasing a pin wallet. I ran across it on one of my many journeys surfing Disney links and such. I want it just to carry my pins in my purse on a regular basis. You know, so when you mention that you collect Disney pins, and someone looks at you like "What?", I can say "See!" What do you guys think of this. Good idea or bad? any drawbacks to this?

A pin wallet sounds great! Did you say you saw a link for pin wallets? Could you let me know where?:)

I thought it was a great idea too, The one I saw is really not very much more than the typical bag type material (whatever that it), which folded in half with a strip of velcroe (spelling gets worse with age:( ). My DS, who's only 6 has a regular wallet like it. Nothing very fancy, but it does the trick. Of course this one has the pages and all. It was $25.00 I think. Hmmmmm, now I can't find it on my Favorites. (Memory doesn't get any better with age either). It was Pins n More, something like that. I will look harder and will be right back...........

OK, yes it's pinsnmore.com. (link removed--links to commercial sites not allowed) Let me know what you think:)

Thanks for the link to the great site!!! Boy, do I have some great Christmas gift ideas now!!!:D

$8.00 shipping???!!!

I like the wallet, but shipping seems out of whack. Especially since the pin cases, which are heavier and more delicate, cost only $6.75 to ship.

Doncha' think so?

Well, yeah, but I think $25.00 for such a little wallet is crazy, too!! But I guess if you've got the only one on the market, we'll either pay or do without. Guess that's why I don't have one yet..........but Christmas is getting nearer and nearer!!;) ;) :bounce: :bounce: ;)
