Hi, I called and they were completely booked solid for July 2-5th. Then the cast member told me she recognized we were new and this was our first trip, and booked us in! She said it is a courtesy they do for first bookings for new members.

That's usually a benefit for people who purchase directly. Sales can pull from other inventory. Did you buy direct or resale?

If it is your first DVC Member trip, they will make room for you! Call them!

Not always. Sometimes they do not have room to make, especially at VGC.

I just booked our first DVC stay there a couple months ago. I had to be flexible about dates- there was nothing available, not even for a 1st timer (they did check) in October. We scheduled a December trip instead, but I suspect part of why I was able to book is that I was shooting for a 2 bedroom rather than a studio. 7 months out, at the minute reservations opened, I got the December dates I wanted.

Wow! Bet you were super excited. Congratulations! Did you buy DVC direct? And how much time passed from the time you bought to calling in to book?
