Prize Bingo vs. Jackpot Bingo

I know with Jackpot Bingo you have to 'buy' your cards. How does prize bingo work? I saw it listed on the 4 night navigator on Barb's website and the first time I heard of this was on our extra day at sea last month when we didn't get to go to CC.

Is 'prize' bingo free for everyone? My kids said they played and I asked them how they got their cards and they said they just gave it to them (they were with our friends). I thought it must have been something special for that day at sea since they had to come up with extra activities.

But now I see it listed on the 4 night navigator, and my kids really enjoyed it (they didn't win anything, but they had fun). Is it always free or was that just something they did to entertain us on the day we missed CC?

Thanks,
DJ

I don't know about "prize" bingo but here's some added information on jackpot bingo...

Although I didn't play I checked into it once. On our Magic cruise (9/11) I think they played 5 games for each session. You could by a 6 card sheet for $25 or 12 card sheet for $35. Someone may need to correct me if I'm wrong...

We played 'prize bingo' on Friday of the 9/18 cruise. It was out by the pool, and tons of fun.
They gave us bingo cards, we didn't have to buy them. They were not like the regular cards, these had sliding cover to cover the numbers as they are called.
There were 3 games played, and the prizes were Cups, frisbees, keychains, etc....like the prize one gets for verifying hte numbers in the regular bingo games.
The Grand Prize was 2 giant Mickey Mouse plushes.

Wow...learn something new all the time....have sailed DCL 11 times and never heard of prize bingo!!!

I looked at the 7 day Navigator fro Dave's DCL Tribute site and there was nothing about Prize Bingo. Is this a new activity and how often does it run? It sounds like a great pastime. :)

I saw it listed on the 4 day navigator on Barb's castaway club website from May (sorry, they won't let us post Barb's website in our messages). But I didn't see it listed on the 4 night on on Dave's website (but that one is from March, so it is older).

It is listed on the May Navigator at 1:00 on Nassau day at the Goofy Pool and is listed as a Family activity. We are going on the 4 night cruise in December, so that is why I wondered if they still do this and if it is free (they did it on Friday of our 7 night on the Sept. 18th cruise, but that was a day we had to miss CC to head back to PC before Hurricane Jeanne came--so I thought they just did it is keep us entertained that day, but then I saw it on this other navigator and wondered if it is held on a more regular basis---my kids loved it, I missed it because they were up at the Goofy pool with our friends and I didn't understand that the PRIZE BINGO was free to play).

Actually it's a great idea for DCL. The prize bingo doesn't cost anything and kids really do get interested. They play by the pool and give out prizes. I had never played bingo on ship before and so it was also a way to learn how to play. You will receive a board to take to cash bingo to receive 1 free board there. It had my kid's begging me to take them to play cash bingo which of course a parent has to pay for and attend then. :D We are now bingo players.
