Hi All - what is your preferred private transportation company that you have used for MCO to your PC hotel? We are a group of ten (4A/6K), and rental cars don't seem that convenient.

Thanks!

Following! I was thinking of picking up an Uber (we will have 4A/2K), but I'm not sure of the rates in FL versus elsewhere. We don't want to rent a car, just to end up having it sit in the garage for the week we will be on the ship.

We have a rental car again, but we have two weeks before, and a week after at WDW; the longer rental was cheaper. Anyway, on the occasions we have had no car and been staying off site, we've always used Mears. I will admit that is probably because our very first vacation involved a package holiday with transfers included and it was Mears that was used. They are a big company, so we never bothered looking around for someone else! They also do everything from taxis to motor coaches, and I know the last time I looked, although some years ago, they did mini buses too.

Even with three adults it was cheaper for us to pay rental charged and parking fees in the garage at PC than it was to do DCL bus transfer (they broke about even). I imagine you should be able to find a better solution than catching the DCL bus transfer!

I've heard bad reviews from the car rental places around the port (Cocoa Beach). We booked a Mears van for 4A/2K. Then staying the night in Cocoa Beach then taking a taxi to the port since most hotels there offer a single shuttle to the port the morning of your cruise.

Rental car is the way to go. A private shuttle gets you to the hotel. Now your stuck there unless you pay for cab rides. Having a car let's you go to hotel, go out to dinner, go to pier/beach or shopping. When you return the car the next day to a port canaveral drop off they will provide a shuttle to the ship.

Yes, they do provide shuttles between the car rental and port. Previously, we did a pick-up airport, drop-off at port before cruise, then pick-up at port and drop-off at airport after the cruise (had two weeks before and after at WDW). It was such an unpleasant experience that we didn't even bother contemplating drop-off/pick-up at the port. We are simply just paying for parking and peace of mind! No more craziness on departure/arrival day. I'm sure others will have had better experiences. But for us, port car hire will most likely never be an option again.

Ok, so essentially we can pick up a rental from MCO and drive it out to our hotel for the one day, and return it at the port? What about for after the cruise? We can reserve for pick up at the port and then drop it off at MCO? I just can't justify renting one for the entire week, and all it's really going to do is sit in the garage the entire time.

Yes, you can do one way rentals. Sometimes there's an extra cost for doing that. But, I think, in the Orlando/Port Canaveral area, they don't typically have the one way surcharge. We didn't on our Port Canaveral/MCO rental.

And are all rental companies available at the port? or only select ones?

We always use Happy Limo and on more than one occasion we have been upgraded to a stretch limo including their Hummer limo. Have always been right on time and the drivers are polite and very helpful with the luggage.

Yikes, I just contacted Happy Limo to see about one-way for 2 Adults and baggage from WDW to Port Canaveral and I was quoted $146.00. I think I can rent a car cheaper.

Just as a follow up. With a Disney cruise flying in the day before cruise I think the one way rental MCO to the port is best. But when flying out the same day you get off the ship just pay the $35pp Disney return transfer and let Disney take your bags to the airport for you. If your airline qualifies for on board flight check in they will print your boarding pass, give you airline luggage tags the night before and take them around 8 to 10 PM. You never touch them again until home airport.

We used private transfer with Access Line Transportation several times.

So far - happy with their services. Always on time, drivers nice and helpful, new looking, clean and comfortable cars.

Coming to a conference in Orlando, take my husband with me as we are getting great deal in Grand Floridian: plan to use them again MCO -WDW- MCO.

But we are not going to drive around much. So it is going to work better for us than rental.
