jim and meesie said:OK, now I know I must live on a different planet. We have an 8th grader at a private prep school, tuition next year will be $29,500. (day student). That doesn't include books or bus and inevitably we are still nickled and dimed for other things through the year. My older son just graduated from another school in the same league (all boys) where tuition was a relative bargain at $18,000/year! Hopefully my younger son will attend that same school however it is intensely competitive admissions (less than 10% of those who apply are accepted). On top of this all my oldest is a freshman in college at $43,500./ year or thereabouts. If I ever added up all of what I will spend by the time they graduate from college I'm not sure I could handle it!!!!
Jordan'sMom said:Yes, we do have several fund-raisers a year...carnival, book fair, read-a-thon, and the main one in which each family just contributes an additional dollar amount to the school fund. It's a great school, and unfortunately for us, one of the only good options (we feel the best!) The public school system here is in deplorable shape. The real kicker is that we have extremely high property taxes ($6500) of which 80% is school tax!!!!
