Heard it from another that DCL is going to end private Mixology classes.

Can anyone confirm?

I just posted that I heard that they are now on PORT days instead of SEA days. Waiting to see if anyone responds to my post. But getting rid of private ones altogether???? NOOOOOO :(

We had a lot of Mixology and other seminars on our 7 night EC cruise in September. Our group arranged them all on Sea days (we had 3 scheduled sea days, but that turned into 4)
Maybe it depends on your itinerary and when they can be fit in?

Oh No! I have to arrange one in 30 days or so for our January cruise. I'll know then if that is true or not.

That would be disappointing. :( We just did our first regular mixology and LOVED it, so I was thinking next time a private one would be so much fun.

I'm still waiting for an email response from DCL regarding switching it to port days from sea days and/or if it's being discontinued altogether. They are not too swift at answering :(

Spoiler alert - this is probably not going to be a popular response. :P

Just playing devil's advocate here, but I can see why Disney might want to at least limit the private classes. On our last two cruises even though we were at the sign up desk pretty early (around 12:30 or 1:00) on embarkation day, some of the tasting sessions were already full. Yes, there were options still available, but if you wanted a specific tasting you could be out of luck unless you were one of the first on board. There are only so many bar tenders to go around. I can see Disney limiting the private classes in order to open up more opportunities for everyone in the general cruise population. Obviously I have no clue if this is why they are doing this, but it could be a possibility.

It wouldn't be the first time that once an idea gets shared numerous times on social media it becomes expected and Disney can no longer meet the demand.

Just a thought. Be kind with your flames. :-)

we've noticed that private events seem to be the new norm - on our last 4 night cruise we were unable to get into a champagne tasting b/c there was only one non-private offered.

@Pens Fan no flames here, I totally get what you are saying. I just wish I could get a clear answer from DCL one way or another as I've got a lot of excited people in my cruise group who want to do a private mixology but now we're worried if we have to juggle excursions, etc.

Saw a note in our group about a private mixology class from DCL for the December 4th sailing out of Miami on the Magic:

"We regret that we no longer offer mixology on sea days, please check with group if any of the Port Days will work"

I received a second email from Alma where we stated that all December sailings on the Disney Magic will have private mixology on port days, so it seems to be ship-specific as this time? Odd I know.

Or, maybe, seasonally specific? Because of more activities during a Christmas cruise?

Why would they stop guaranteed money? who knows if it would fill up on board of you are willing to prevent book 30 people dcl will take it

For the Magic leaving Sunday we got one mixology session on the first sea day, but when we tried to reserve other tastings Alma told us they would only be available on port days.

As a first time cruiser will only be able to book Mixology on the first cruising day ?
