I figuered this woul be the best place to ask this. My DH and I are headed down in May and I am looking for ideas on a private dinner. I would like it to be something really great. We have done the GF private dining dinner a few years back and that was great. So something like that, only a different spot. We are staying at AKL and have annual passes so anywhere in the parks, or at resorts. I thought about Illuminations but want to have a dinner, not just desserts. I thought about renting Grand 1 - but not sure I want to do that with just 2 people.

Any cool ideas?

We've done a couple of these, and they're a ton of fun!

We did dinner and dessert at UK Pubside (Rose & Crown) a few years ago. Supposedly they only let you do dessert there now, but some people are able to get them to allow dinner. Plus, there are several other venues in Epcot you could use that do allow dinner-ish food. For a detailed run-down of how to plan and all the costs, check out my report at http://disneytravelbabble.com/how-to/private-party/.

Last week we did an anniversary IllumiNations cruise and had it drop us at Hollywood Studios for dinner on the terrace at Tower of Terror. It was amazing! I haven't written it up yet cuz I'm waiting to get pictures back, but you follow the same steps outlined in my other post about event planning.

Happy planning! :goodvibes

Do they help you come up with venue ideas? I think I talked to someone from there a while ago and they wanted me to come up with everything. I was looking for someone to help plan it, not just make it happen, so I think I just gave up. I had no idea what we could do and the guy just kept asking me where I wanted it. When I when ask him for ideas he would just ask me where I wanted it again. :rotfl:

Nope—we always have to think this stuff up on our own! :rotfl: Also, you have to think of *every* detail yourself because they never really take the initiative.

For instance, when I started talking to the event planner about my ideas back in December, I wanted to hire the Breathless II, and it took the marina forever to get back to her about its availability. I finally emailed and asked if maybe we shouldn't reserve a regular pontoon boat just in case, and she was like "Oh, well those have been available to book for months now so you might not get one." So... what was her plan all this time if the Breathless II fell through? Apparently it was that we take a Wishes cruise instead, which, of course, wouldn't be able to drop us off anywhere NEAR Hollywood Studios. :lmao:

(As it turns out, the Breathless II had been sold, but nobody could tell me that except the captain of our pontoon boat on the night of our party.)

See that's my problem. I have no idea where we can have it except a couple of places that I have seen. It would be nice to have some input from someone at Disney!

Can you let us know when you write this up?? I'd LOVE to read all about it!!!!

I plan to do this on my honeymoon - special for people staying at AKL only and you get dinner at Jiko! Google Wanyama Safari! Private safari tour and dinner at Jiko!

A good place to start is all the online info for Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings. I have a list of every single standard venue for a ceremony/reception (plus lots of photos) here:

You can also poke around the Disney Meetings web site and see what kinds of corporate events they do—maybe you'll get an idea for something scaled down for two.

Basically, the best thing to do is think of your favorite places in WDW (well, except inside Magic Kingdom) and then ask if they're available as event spaces. The terrace at TOT is my favorite spot in all of Hollywood Studios. I was on a tour of wedding venues in the park and just asked if that was one of them. They hadn't used it in a while, but they looked up all the info and let me know that it was.

Maybe you can give us an idea of your interests—favorite park, favorite night-time spectacular, favorite show, favorite restaurant—and we can make suggestions.

Thank you!!! We were engaged on the tower of terror and this would be AH-MAZING!!

That sounds cool. But we went to Jiko last time we visited (last May) and both my DH and I got really sick. Like throwing up sick. I don't think Jiko would work out for us.:sad2:

Thanks for the links!

My favorite parks are MK and Epcot. My favorite fireworks are Wishes and Illuminations. We have never seen Fantasmic because the line is always HUGE and we don't want to wait for over an hour just to get in. Maybe we should do a Fantasmic dinner and dessert party for 2?

That's so funny — that's why we never go to Fantasmic! either. I think you have a great idea there. If you did a private event you'd have no waiting, plenty of space to spread out... they're really fun!

Here's a post with info about pricing and pix of the views from the 2 patios:
