Privacy question when sleeping in one of the Value rooms...

I'm sorry, but I just don't get the need or desire for "recreation" in the same room with the kids. I am not critizing anything anyone else does, just saying that for me I don't think it is something I would ever be comfortable with or need to do. I enjoy recreation as much as the next gal, but I can wait untill I get home. To each his own though, as long as i don't her you from my room!

I agree with all the prior posters...
We didn't need a DVC guide to explain the benefits <cough :lovestruc cough> of a 1bedroom villa.
That thing markets itself!!

Bathroom after the kids are asleep!

BTW, check out my siggie--I was a member of the "Banana Thread"!

I agree...that's a serious ew when the kids are in the same room. Send them to one of the Disney babysitting clubs....don't do it with them in the room....ew ew ew.

Now that my kids are older we tend to send them to the pool....but at night when they are in the room....gross...

Just a thought----if there are 2 beds in the room----how about the floor on the opposite side of the kids bed? The bed would be the same as a sheet for privacy as long as you don't mind the floor. I understand the privacy issue, even though my husband doesn't. Good Luck!

Somebody call DVC marketing! DVC guides needs to add this to their sales pitch for families! All they need to do is to talk about the extra "privacy" to the Dads and watch how many points they sell. :lmao:

I agree; they need to stop all that silly "Best Kept Secret" nonsense and simply put this:

And the tag line should be: Disney Vacation Club. Never Underestimate the Value of a Door. ;)

Hahahaa.....(the OP here)......I have read some of this to my DH (who BTW is embarrassed I posted a question of this nature in a forum)....

Oh yes...I was def not talking about sleep......LOL! :rotfl:

Happy Hump Day Everyone! One day closer to the weekend.....one day closer to DISNEY!

Here I am - the OP!

Sorry but I cannot get on (no pun intended - LOL!) as I went Dining Ressie crazy and have been livin' over there.

My kids are 9 & 7...and my 9 yr old (a boy) is not as mature as prob most 9 yr olds...

My kids sleep deep "enough" but I have also never slept in the same room as them for more than 1 or 2 nights "max".

SOooooo thanks for your input....Next yr we will be reserving a family suite.

LOL - I'm just trying to make sure we all have a good time while at Disney. :)
Donna

Forget it- I answered my own question.

I'm putting hump day into my next Disney itinerary. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

ok, now I'm late for work!

This is why DH & I's next trip is sans the kiddos. ;) Great thread all needed this today. To OP good luck in your trip planning. And the only advice I can give you about a backpack is make sure it is small enough to go under your legs during the rides. We have our kids use fanny packs lightens the packback load they carry their own sunglasses, gum, pins, autograph books.

OK... this thread has been quite a riot! I've overcome my initial shock at the OP's sheet idea. Sorry to disappoint, OP, but privacy and value rooms are mutually exclusive! They simply can't co-exist!

My kids are quite a bit older, so I wouldn't even dream of in-room "recreation" while they're there. Youngest is 11, and quite frankly, she has not mastered the art of tact. I can imagine us sitting in a restaurant for dinner, and DD blurting out loudly, "So, Mom. I swear I heard some funny noises last night when you and Dad were in the bathroom together... what were you guys doing?"

This discussion reminds me of the acquaintance who said that she missed her backseat escapades so much that she and her DH hired a babysitter so they could sneak off to a lover's lane for some high school-esque "recreation"

Hmmm...I'm guessing Disney security might be unimpressed to find their guests enjoying some "recreation" in the resort car park!

BTW... I have got to share the idea of scheduling a "hump day" into our next vacation itinerary with my DH. I guess that will really get him interested in helping me with the trip planning!

Edited to add:
In all this discussion about "recreation" I completely forgot that the OP asked for backpack advice. I've decided that I'm never toting around a backpack at Disney again... too hot, my family designates me as the bag-watcher/ pack mule! For future trips, it'll be individual fanny packs or cross body bags for everyone travelling! Everyone will be responsible for their own stuff!

This was exactly what I needed today..

We decided to get a suite (staying at SOG) so that we could have our own bedroom with a door. Though where I'm going to find the energy, I have no idea. I'm sure DH will help me find it :lmao:

...back from work.

To answer your question, a mixed drink usually makes me forget how tired I am and how sore my feet are for AT LEAST an hour! :rotfl:

Especially if you chug-a-lug it :lmao: Which is another adult behavior you don't want to show the kids.

Let me share a possibly fictional story:

Fade in on darkened All Star Sports Room.

Wife: Do you think they're asleep yet?

Kids: Not yet!

...time passes.

Wife: I think they're asleep!

Husband: I'll get the mixed drinks out of the cooler!

Wife: *giggle*

Crashing noise as husband falls over suitcase trying to find cooler

Wife: Shhh! Oh My God! We've been sitting in the dark for an hour trying to get them to fall asleep, for crying out loud don't wake them up!

Husband: I think my toe is bleeding.

Wife (from bathroom): Pour some booze on it and get in here!

Husband stumbles into bathroom holding drinks and his bleeding toe. Fan turns on. Crashing noise is heard as bottle slips from husband's bloodied hand to smash on the tile floor of the bathroom. Fan turns off. Kids wake up.

...and then we bought DVC.

OMG! I am crying right now from laughing so much! :lmao: This post really made my day. Who would of thought a bed sheet would bring so much laughter and so many posts to one thread! I think this is part of any vacation conversation between a husband and wife (especially the husband  ). We are booked at CBR and I am sure that will be the last thing on my mind! But, you never know, from what I hear the magic doesn't stop when you leave the parks!!!!

<< OP HERE >>

Oh My.........Love the store 2 posts above this one.....I am DYING here at work....as I can imagine myself or DH stumbling over something.

Reminds me of when my 9 yr old (at age 2) asked us once why we were wrestling on the floor.............in the kitchen............

I wonder if even its possible after walking around the park in the August heat any 'ole way??? In the thought pattern of my DH "Where there's a will - there's a way".

I never even thought about me mentioning putting up a sheet for privacy would gain so much interest. In all honestly - I thought surely someone over the years had figured out a way to keep kids on "their side" of the room...and would give me some creative ideas. :P
