Would someone be so kind as to let me know if there is a solid wall between each verandah or is it more of a partition . If not solid, I assume you can easily hear the folks next door on theirs when sitting outside.

Thank you for your help. :D

It is more of a partition, and you can hear people on the veranda next door.

And if you lean on the side by the rail, you can see your neighbors and visa versa! IF they smoke, you will smell it if you are downwind also.

For more privacy, try the Navigator's verandah.

No matter what verandah you have, if you're like anyone else and rest your arms on the rail and lean over a bit, you can look left or right and see your neighbors.

It's not a matter of being nosy, it's simply natural to want to look down at the water as well as forward and aft. You can't help but see what's on either side of you.

Which has left me wondering how all those card carrying members of the Verandah Club were able to succeed in their mission. No need for explanation just an observation...

Our veranda in cabin 5150 is deeper than most and all the way aft on Deck 5. You could look to right to the next veranda, but there was just empty space to the left. At that curve of the ship you could not see the length of the ship...only the veranda to the right.

All in all we still like the location and extra space on the veranda.

In the next pic you can see the partition between the verandahs....I took this pic from our veranda of my BIL's verandah.

This shot is of the veranda to the left of us....not a passenger room but a crew area of some sort. There was actually just one chair and some garbage on the deck and I never saw anyone out there ever. It is only accessible by a crew door.....what a waste of a verandah!!!

Thank you all for taking the time to reply and to mmouse for the wonderful pictures.

This will be our first cruise having a verandah (won't know which room until we get there) so was curious as to what to expect.

:boat:

Not much privacy there. We said good morning each morning to our neighbor in the Roy Suite as he had his smoke on his verandah. Luckily he was very courteous and stayed all the way forward and we were aft of him, so we didn't smell the smoke. (It was the equivalent of six to seven cabins away at that point, as the Roy Suite has a 4x wide verandah and the suite we were in has a 3x wide verandah.)

At any rate, we also saw the people on the other side of us a few times, although they didn't seem to spend much time on the verandah. They had younger kids, and I think spent a lot of time at the pool.

Then you have the ones who are nosey and make a point of sticking their head around the partition to see what you are doing!!

We never saw our veranda neighbors (and only saw them once in the hallway). We did hear someone out on their veranda - I think above us and over.

We saw other people sticking their heads out over the railing when we took a peek at Castaway Cay.

You'd have to be a very rude person to hang over the verandah and look directly into your neighbor's verandah. To just stand at the rail and look around, you can't see them!!

Again, thank you all for your replies.

tstobb: Appreciated seeing the picture of your verandah. Looks as though you had a solid wall on the side while have seen pictures of others with more of a partition separating them. Guess it depends on the room you have. What a lovely view you had - especially being able to see the Captain's area on the side.

Being non-smokers ourselves, we do hope our neighbors will be the same but we're just excited having the verandah this time. :hyper:

tstobb - a picture is worth a thousand words!

Now don't you just wish you were back at St. Thomas and had that view again!!!!!

Thanks!!!

Did you have the veranda on the other side of my FIL :D

Everytime we'd be out there he'd stick his head around.

Tried to get away from it by getting a Navigator veranda but there is still a small opening between them that you can see through and he'd stick his fingers through and wave at me.

Good point! NEVER cruise with "Frank Barone".

After reading the above, I guess we'll have to give up any thoughts of sunbathing on the verandah  ;)   :teeth:
