Hi All!!!! First I would like to say this is just a beautiful Disney site. very informative, nicely laid out, somebody put some real thought into this web site.

so here is my first post and my first question.

how important is it to do priority seating? I will be going to wdw at the end of feb (23rd to 29th). I am purchasing the silver plan. we just kind of wanted to go and have our options open. I was not ready to stick to a set dining schedule. Do I need to do this in order to eat? does this mean I will be stuck with burgers and fries for 6 days!!!! Thank you.

Hey! Welcome to the Dis.... I'm not really sure if PS makes a difference when you're on a silver plan, but at any rate if you have a restaurant you REALLY want to try it at least gives you peace of mind you'll be able to try it with minimal wait! I only plan on doing them for dinner and winging breakfast and lunch. I certainly wouldn't do it everyday for 3 meals a day though - WAY too hard to stick to that kind of schedule.

Also wanted to say - SEE YOU THERE! We'll be there for our honeymoon from 2/17-2/27!

1. WELCOME! Glad you found your way to the site!
2. PS - I would suggest you make PS for any of your MUST DO selections. What I used to do, before I moved to FLA, was I would plan my meals around my day's plan. If we were going to be at the Magic Kingdom for the day, I would plan dinner in the general area.

Why PS? It insures that you will dine in that selection on that night. You may still have a little wait, but at least you will not be told "I'm sorry we cannot accommodate any walk-up seating tonight."

And even when you are not at Disney during a peak time or a holiday, sometimes the weather greatly affects the table turn in a restaurant and on rainy nights it makes it very difficult to just walk into a "better" restaurant.

Good Luck!

Live and learn !!!!

Just last night , we made our PS's for our trip. We have ALWAYS done Chef Mickeys on a Sunday Night of our 1st weekend there.
We wanted PS for Sunday August 17th @ 7PM.

The only PS they had was for 9PM that night. Thats a bit too late.
Now we are stuck with just showing up and WAITING....or switch to another night.

Make your PS's ASAP. Like one of the posters said, you don;t have to worry about it .

Yes and no. fortunately, priority seatings are really flexible. they are really easy to make and cancel. when my parents are planning our trip, we usually end up making a last minute PS in order to avoid burgers and fries again for dinenr. so, basically, its better to just make the priority seatings for somewhere so that you have a place to go, but also to keep in mind that priority seatings are not like real world reservations where its impossible to change them. hope i helped, good luck

I would definitely make PS's for any character meals you want to do. These arer very popular and many will fill up before you arrive. Same holds for things like HDD and the luau. If you want to do any of these make your PS's ahead of time.

As for other meals, I agree with the other posters: make a PS for anything you definitely know you want to try. While you are not going at a busy time and they may have openings for any meal, the best times certainly fill up quickly. I don't think you'll have any trouble finding a nice sit down meal at that time of year, but you may have to wait at the restaurant of your choice or try a different restaurant.

My recommendation is to make 1 or 2 Ps's and then wing it the other days.

The fact that you're on the Silver plan takes me from a "yes and no" to a "I would definitely make PS, at least for dinner."

Say you're not on a dining plan and don't make any PS. You walk up to a sit-down restaurant and they're not taking walk ups. Oh well, I guess you'll have a burger and fries for dinner.

But when you're on the dining plan and paying roughly $33 per wish, you really don't want to use a wish on a burger and fries! Since your wishes expire at the end of your trip, you either use your wish on a burger and fries for dinner or you try to find another way to use it before the end of the trip. DH and I used the Silver plan on our last trip, and I would definitely advocate planning your meals ahead of time and making some PS if you want to get the most out of the plan!

Welcome to the DIS!! You're absolutely right; this is a great site (not that I'm biased or anything . . . . .)

Since a PS does not obligate you to dine at that particular restaurant, I'd go ahead and make them, especially for any character meals you may want to do.

Then, if you change your mind, you can simply call and cancel them. But I agree with XStAnt . . . character meal bookings go fast and I can't imagine getting any of these by simply walking in.

Please do cancel, though, if you find you will not be using your PS.

I wholeheartedly agree with lovespugs. PLEASE make some PS's especially for dinner!! The thought of you spending over $30 for burgers and fries frightens and appauls me!

Don't look at it as having to plan your day around a meal - of course I am from New Orleans so we do that every day! LOL!

Look at it as an opportunity to try some really great places. Part of the fun of planning for us is deciding what we want to do again or new places we want to try. Then, as your trip gets closer, tinker with the plan and make adjustments accordingly.

Trust me if you look at it as part of the fun of planning it will make a world of difference. Many of the Disney dining experiences are equally as exciting and/or fun as the shows and theme parks. GOOD LUCK!
