Priority Seating Needed for Onsite Guests?

If I remember correctly when we were at Universal last we didn't need to make restaurant reservations/priority seating. As onsite guests we just had to show our room key and get the next available table, basically FOTL for restaurants.

Is this still true? If so, which restraurants does it work at--just in the parks or Citywalk, too?

Thanks, T&B

We stayed at PBH a couple of weeks ago. We only needed to use priority seating once, which was at Margaritaville. The people in front of us were told there was a 15-30 minute wait. When we put our name in and showed our room key, he told us 5-15 minutes. We were given a pager, and were called within 5 minutes.

When I stayed onsite a in January, we went to eat at Hard Rock. Even though we showed our roomkeys, we still had to wait in line with everybody else. When I asked the lady at the door about priority seating, she said the line we were waiting in was priority seating. There wasn't any other line - there were non resot guests in our line - so I really didn't grasp the advantage that we were getting.

Hmmm, I don't know what to think then. How about the restaurants in the park?

The sit down restaurants in the park will take priority seating with a room key.

They are:

USF: Lombard's Landing
IOA: Mythos, Confscio's Grille

We want to try Mythos when we are at IOA the beginning of May. Do I need to be calling now for a PS, make them right after we check in or can I wait until the day we want to go and call then. Just wondering how quick the ressies fill up?

Sounds like she thought she was being funny. In Citywalk, only a few restaurants let you use your hotel key for priority seating, Margaritaville being one. HRH isn't. Maybe someone else can remember the other places.

Did they change the rules on the priority seating? Last time we were there the only place we couldnt use it at was Emerils. I guess I may find out the hard way next week. Hotels all sold out and I didnt make a single restaurant reservation!

I'm sure the rules are the same. It's probably my mind that's confused:p

I always understood that all the restaurants at CityWalk except Emeril's honored the room key for "next available seating". We even went in a separate entrance at the Hard Rock Cafe last July. The sign said for on site guests to go in this way. The previous summeer, we just went up to the person at the front door (not the person at the outside kiosk) and were seated in five minutes. There was a line around the building at the time.
For Mythos, we just stopped in that morning while in the park and made a reservation for that night.
