I will be in WDW from 2/11 to 2/15. Is it NECESSARY to make PS's for this time of year? I am taking a group of students to perform in Disney's Magic Music Days, but I'd like to have a couple of non-counter service meals. I was particularly looking at 50's Prime Time Cafe for lunch on 2/13 (two adults one child) and Crystal Palace for dinner on 2/14. What do you think? I am thinking of definitely making the PS for Crystal Palace, but not sure about 50's PTC. Thanks!

Two years ago we were there the same week. It was swamped. We couldn't eat a sit down lunch in MGM until after 2:00 (we elected to go counter service), were turned down flat for Teppanyaki arriving at 4:00, would have had a two hour wait for Whispering Canyon at dinner time. We were a party of four - so not much bigger than your party.

Necessary - no. Not if you are flexible in when and where you eat. But since you know you want 50s prime time, I'd make them.

Considering that's the beginning of President's Day Weekend, I'd make any and all PS's you 'd want. I was there last Presidents Day Weekend, and the place was an absolute zoo (and I usually go in the summer)!!! People were getting turned away at most restaurants we were eating at and 50's and Crystal Palace were some of them. At Crystal Palace, zoo doesn't even describe the scene, it was more bedlam!! Most people were having around a 30 - 45 minute wait for dinner WITH a PS, so remember that.

Crystal Palace states on its sign that PSs are required. I don't know how true this is, but it is worth getting a PS for at least here to ensure getting the time you want to dine at and not be relegated to the final seating for lunch or whatnot.

As for a more non-mainstream restaurant, I would say get it just as insurance, but you can always change and I don't think it would be impossible, not easy - but not impossible either, at all to call the day prior and get a time. BUT, but given your time frame (which is wild and crazy period at WDW), do make a PS a day or two prior or more if you know what you want.

I would get the PS just to be safe....I am going to be there at about the sametime and I am making sure to get the PS for places I know I really want to go to. Like I know we want to go to Crystal Place for DD 4th B-day so I got that PS and I knew my girls wanted to go to the Princess Storybook Breakfast and I got that. I will be making PS for Chef Mickey's and 50's Primetime in the next coupld days. I just feel it is best to get it as my insurance yeah I might be able to walk up and get in....but I don't want to risk it.

We will be there 2-6 to 2-15. Just finished making all of my PS's. I feel better knowing we have them. A few years ago, I waited an hour and a half for a party of one at Le Cellier, in November! I swore after that I would always try to have PS's. Now we might have extra people meeting us for some of our meals, the reservations people said they were not flexible re: how many people. I guess we'll hope they let us in if we have one or two more with us! By the way, some of my PS's were difficult to get and some were not..and it's 90 days out! I just wouldn't risk it.
Good Luck!

We are going 02/11/04 ---- 02/20/04. I have started to make my PS. I would also recommend making the PS. Also I just wanted to mention that if you make a PS for 02/14/04 (Valentines Day) that you will need to secure it with a credit card.

Hey fellow DISers!

Looks like many of you will be there over Valentines Day and I wanted to let you know that my 8th grade show choir will be singing in the Magic Kingdom on the Tomorrowland Stage on Valentines Day. If you are in the MK, stop by and watch us! I will post the time when Disney sends me that info. This is for Disney's Magic Music Days and my students had to audition for a chance to be a part of Disney's "show." We are SOOOOOO excited! Please come and watch us and look for my lime green ribbon and Mickey!!!!

Thank you!

Anne

Samandmom:

Interesting that they are requiring a credit card for Valentine's Day priority seating. Last Sunday, I made a PS reservation for the California Grill for February 14 and she did not ask for a credit card. Has anyone else been asked to provide a credit card to secure a Valentine's Day seating?

Thanks!
