My parents are platinum members and will get priority boarding. My wife and I are only silver. Do we have to split up or can we board with them? We're in separate rooms. My parents also suggested they could let us go on first, but I wanted us all to be announced together. We now all have the same last name. :)

DCL requests that groups that have different boarding numbers that wish to board together, wait for the highest number to be called to board.

If your parents want to be onboard in the first group, you MIGHT be able to board with them (even though your boarding number hasn't been called yet), if the CMs allow it. But it's their call whether they will or not.

NONE OF THE ABOVE.

As Shmoo said, you can ask politely - but do expect to be told your parents are welcome to join you in your group or you can meet up on board.

Depending on what time your PAT is (if it's the earliest you can get - and yes, I've always gotten the earliest PAT even as a lowly Silver), there is the possibility you could have a boarding number just after the Platinums - in which case just be towards the front so it's not a huge gap and all board at your group.

We selected 9:30am the earliest, so we can all just wait to board together. I did not know that the PAT was set in stone and that determined boarding group. Thanks for clearing that up.

Technically, the PAT is not set in stone. You can get there earlier but risk being asked to wait if the terminal is full. You can get there later and have no issues. The only thing set in stone is that it determines your boarding group number.

Are your reservations linked? We sailed with another family back in March and had different PATs. But our reservations were linked and they boarded with us (the earlier time) without any problems. Nobody questioned it. We checked in together, then boarded together.

9:30? Where are you sailing from. Most ports don't open until 10:30.

Port Canaveral. I saw no option to link the two reservations the website. Is there some advantage to linking?

If you don't link them when you make the reservation, you have to call DCL to link them. Linking the reservations will ensure that you're all seated together for dining. And will allow one person to select everyone for excursions (as long as both reservations have the same booking window).

The terminal at Port Canaveral opens at 10:30. If you picked at 9:30 PAT, I'd go back and check that.

Personally, I would go with all but dressing like the Captain...he is already on the ship so that would be out of the question of plausibility. **** J/K ( before anyone gets their knickers in a twist.) ****

To link your reservations you will need to:
1. Sign into your Disney Cruise Line account
2. Click on the Link reservations button on the bottom right hand side
3. enter your parents reservation number
4. It will need to be refreshed after doing so and might note that the reservation was unable to be linked. Refresh the page or sign in again and it should show up.

This will link your reservation for dining. When doing your online check in *choosing PAT time, putting payment information on file etc *** then it is helpful if one person would be responsible for both linked reservations.
Now your Platinum parents, would be able to book excursions, Palo or Remy dining at 120 days out. As silver you could book yours at 90 days out. Even if the reservations are linked, Palo, Remy and excursions follow that rule. You will see tour names with your parents but will not be able to choose excursion tims or dining for yourself regardless.

Going back to your original question... I would just ask nicely if you could board in Group 1 with your parents. With a 10:30 PAT, you are likely to be in boarding group 2 or possibly 3. )

Cant you switch with your dad on the reservation and then there's a Platinum in every room? I believe that will get all of you in as Platinum, being the highest level in the room.

Then you can just switch and sleep in your desired room (?)

A good idea, then you get the platinum benefits in all rooms too. Palo for everyone! If it isn't past the paid in full it shouldn't be too costly to do it, but they would have to call and check.

There's just 4 of you? Just board with your parents. I don't think it's worth a worry. It's not like there are 20 of you trying to board with platinum.

I say just ask the dcl cast member when you checked in. They have the discretion to say yes or no. When cruising with our family members we are required to check in seperatly. When they assign our number, who ever is done first will tell the other member what number we have and the CM can choose whether to give them the same number or not. The first couple of numbers get called quickly. We are usually a #2, but once it's called, they are up to #4 before we can even get through the crowd. This is #10 cruise for me in 2 weeks, so no more numbers for me. We will wait with the family if they travel with us, unless directed differently by a CM.

You will still need a number on cruise 10. It is from the 11th on that you don't need a number. :) We just finished cruise 10 on the 1st of October.

Once you are platinum, is there a PAT to select or do you possibly get it automatically? This time we booked a last-minute cruise and have the latest PAT we have ever had. After our next cruise, I will be platinum. If we do a last-minute cruise again and noon is the earliest PAT available...is that it for us or will we be able to have early boarding as platinum?

Yes I know that. I have my pat for my cruise in 11 days (unless it gets cancelled). Yes once that one is over we will be platinum and it's my daughters 5th, so she'll move to gold after the cruise.
