1. Package Jan 2013--room, tickets, dining.
DH sick and never left resort except to go to Urgent Care and didn't validate ticket. Front desk agreed ticket could be used another visit since it was NEVER validated.

2. Another Package Jan 2014--MB, rooms, dining, tickets, etc. We decided to add another day onto park tickets.

3. Decided to go next week to Epcot Garden show. I purchased AP planning to upgrade my husband's unused Jan 2013 ticket to an AP after using 1 time.

Unused ticket did not show up on MDE and will not let me link it.

After calling, I find out DISNEY ADDED THE EXTRA DAY (Jan 2014) to the WRONG TICKET (Jan 2013)!!

They said that it was the way the system prioritizes tickets, which I know nothing about. (why would know that?)

Anyway, mistakes happen. They sent me a 7 day ticket to replace the ticket that was validated by mistake.

MY PROBLEM: The cover letter says that this "complimentary" ticket CANNOT BE UPGRADED, CHANGED, ETC.

I wanted to upgrade this ticket to AP for my DH. Especially since I already purchased my AP.

I know I could save this ticket and just purchase another AP but I don't really want to spend the money AND after this year we don't know when we will be back to Disney due to changing circumstances.

Do you think anything can be done? Better to wait until we get there next week and see if they can help? We are staying offsite this time.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP! AND be forewarned: tickets are PRIORTIZED!

1. Yes.

2. Yes.

But, if you'd like to try before you go,

I'm far from an expert, but these are my gut reactions and how I would handle it..

First...I would call to see if I can take care of it over the phone and possibly upgrade the complimentary ticket to AP and let them mail you the AP voucher.
If they tell you they can't do it over the phone then the next option is to wait until you go to Disney and see if you can take care of it in person...

In the meantime..these would be my considerations..

Is the complimentary ticket a Hopper? If not, then either you have to get tough with Disney or hold onto the complimentary ticket for another trip as if you can't upgrade to AP, chances are you won't be able to upgrade to PH and if you plan to hop with your AP, you both will need that option.

Is the complimentary ticket non expiration?
If yes, that's good as it can be used for additional trips if you don't have a 7-day trip planned.

How many days do you plan to do to Disney while you have your AP?
I would then figure if I can't upgrade my complimentary ticket is there a way your husband can use it along with the purchase of an additional ticket for your planned Disney trips without it costing more or as much as an AP?

Since you already have an AP then you will get the additional discounts for your trips..yes, you will have to make all the purchases to get the 10% discount, but you will still get it. And you can use you AP for free parking and to purchase TiW, etc.

It would be best if Disney let you upgrade to AP... would call and try to talk to a supervisor to see if anything can be done at all. If I were you I would try to resolve the situation before arriving at Disney because you may end up spending too much time during your vacation to try and get the upgrade and if they can't do it, you're left with having figure out what to do and what ticket to purchase at that time instead of taking time to figure it out. Also if you figure the best option is to purchase an additional ticket for DH to use along with the complimentary ticket you can a least purchase for a lower price through UT or AAA.

Good luck with everything...I hope you'll be able to upgrade to an AP without any problems.

Thanks so much for the replies.

The "complimentary" ticket cannot be upgraded to Park Hopper.

There doesn't seem to be an expiration date on it.

I am assuming that it is for 7 days out of 14?

ALSO, normal customer service could not take care of this issue. They gave me a "special" email address (NO phone number) that took several days for them to respond. When they did call me they really wanted to be helpful BUT then I had mailed to me this non-upgradable complimentary ticket that can't be changed to an AP, park hopper, any extra days or changed in anyway.

This is after I had explained to them that my plans were to upgrade to an AP.

Am I correct to also assume this complimentary ticket is non-transferrable?
Is your husband the only person who can use it or can someone else use it?
The only other thought is if you know someone going to Disney who needs a ticket you can sell them your 7-day ticket at a discounted price..at least you'll get some money towards the AP for your husband. I know that's a shot in the dark, but you never know...

If you're thinking of holding onto the complimentary ticket for another trip another year...I would check with Disney to see if, as long as it's not used, this ticket will still be good to use a year or 2 from now.

I'm also curious...if you decide to wait until you get to Disney to resolve this situation - can you link the complimentary ticket to MDE so if you want you can make advance FP+ selections for your husband AND if you end up changing to a new /different ticket when you get to Disney, will those FP+ selections would still be valid? Because of this new FP+ system, if you don't have a ticket linked prior to arrival you can't make any FP+ selections until you get there. That may be fine for you if FP+ isn't important in your plans. Just another thought...

This is a pain isn't it? And it looks like you won't be able to do much over the phone. Good Luck!

I want to understand your situation clearly. Jan 2013 multi-day ticket for your DH was not used. Just stayed on your MDE. Jan 2014 you had new resort stay and new tickets. Meaning, DH now had Jan 2013 tickets and Jan 2014 tickets on MDE. You both entered theme parks in Jan 2014 and upgraded tickets to add a day. You found out that Disney added the extra day to DH's Jan 2013 ticket, not Jan 2014 ticket.

My question is, did your DH unknowingly use the Jan 2013 ticket for the Jan 2014 trip? And, does that mean that DH's Jan 2014 ticket is still on MDE, unused? Or did DH use the Jan 2014 ticket first (unknowingly), and then when it ran out, Disney added the extra day to his Jan 2013 ticket, which, when used for that extra day, expired after 14 days' time? Holy Moly! If that's what they did, they owe you an upgradable ticket, not a complimentary one.
