Hello all scrapbookers! I am fairly new to scrapbooking and had a couple of questions.
- When i print something from a printer for my scrapbook (not pictures), is there a certain ink or printer i need to use?

-I have seen some people carry what looks like a hanging file for their paper inside their rolling tote, does any one have this and where can i get it? I have the mickey rolling tote from disney shopping.

- what do you guys use to for the make-your-own autograph book? Is there an album or do you bind your own?

Sorry for all the questions but i know you guys are the best! :cheer2:

I can try to answer at least one of your questions. I did some research and from what I found, most printer ink, both color and black, is acid free, so should be okay to put in your scrapbook. Just make sure you are printing onto acid free paper as well.

Hope someone else can help with the others. I have the mickey tote too and just shove my plastic file into it.

I used a spiral bound scrapbook. It was 6x8 but I cut it down to 6x6 because I have 4 kids, so cutting 1 12x12 sheet of paper worked well. Some people use the smaller Creative Memories album as well. I did not bring all the books with me to the parks, to heavy, but I cut tags out of cardstock 3x5 size and a mini clipboard for the characters to write on. Be mindful that the larger the page, the larger the autograph will be. Characters love to take up lots of room. :teeth:

Don't worry about asking questions, that's what we are here for!!

On printer ink- printer ink is acid free (so as long as you print onto acid free paper, you should be safe). One note is ink from many inkjet printers is not waterfast, so it will run if it gets wet. Although, I've always said that you book gets wet enough for ink to run, you've got bigger problems.

There are a bunch of options for hand-crafted autograph books:
- purchased spiral bound albums
- mini albums (CTMH has a nice 6x6 format, and CM has some nice albums as well)
- paper bag albums (made by layering paper lunch bags)
- tag albums (CTMH has one coming out in August? September?)
Autographs can be done on the pages themselves, or many of us have made tags that can be tucked into album pockets.

Good luck!

Welcome to scrapbooking! I have a little hint to add. If you want to use newspaper articles in your layouts, be sure to have them copied to acid free paper and have them color copied. Do this even if they are black and white to begin with. The ink in the color cartridges is more stable--for a longer life. I learned this from a fellow scrapper who also owns a printing company. Never use an original newspaper article. Most are printed on recycled paper which will ruin your album.
Hope you are having fun!

Alternatively, if you have non-safe paper you want to preserve (like a certificate of achievement, for example), you can spray it with Archival Mist - It will prevent the fibers in the paper from breaking down due to the acid, and make it safe to use in your scrapbooking. (There may be other similar products on the market, but this is the only one I am familiar with.)

I think everyone has already answered the printer ink question. I have no ideea on the rolling cart for paper.

As far as the autograph album, I used a 6x6 top loading album for our last trip in December. I did two pages for each character...on the right is the autograph page and the left is the picture of the character with DS. I only took the autograph pages with me to the park (in a ziploc bag with a sharpie and clipboard for easy signing.) Each night I took out the pages that had been signed and put them in his album for safe transportation home. Each page was personalized for the character either with stickers, clip art, rubons, etc. The characters loved this...having a special page to sign. And I agree the characters will sign the whole page!!!
