We have never flown southwest before, but just got $34.00 one way Buffalo to Orlando in July   !!

Just wondering about the check in online option. It says 24 hrs in advance, do they literally mean 24 hours (so if your flight leaves at 2:15 pm you can only check in on or after 2:15 pm the day before?

Also, someone mentioned in a post that they get a friend to check them in online and then print the boarding passes when they get to the airport. Where would you do this? Would you go the southwest counter and explain you have checked in on line but haven't printed boarding passes, or is there a kiosk where you could print them? :goodvibes

Sorry about the questions but we are a family of 5 with 3 small children and I am not sure how they would do if they had to sit on their own. :scared1:

It's pretty easy :)

1. Yes 24 hours means 24 hours. If you're flight is at 2:15, you can check in at 2:15 the day before.

2. Southwest check in uses the electronic kiosk computer things, and they prefer you to use them whenever possible. If you have checked in online, but not printed your boarding pass, you go to the southwest console, type in your confirmation number and it gives you the option of "reprinting" your boarding pass. Do that :)

3. If you or someone in your family has a cell phone with internet access, you can check in through your cell phone by going to mobile.southwest.com. Again, you check in on the phone (to reserve the A group) and then simply print the passes at the SOuthwest ticket counter kiosk things.

4. No internet cell phone? Then a friend can check you in as long as they have your last name and the confirmation number. Proceed as above by printing the passes at the airport

I hope that helps!

Keep in mind that you can also check in at Disney resorts; just go to the lobby concierge desk with your Southwest confirmation number and they will check in for you and print your boarding passes.

It is a simple process and I do it all of the time. I try to check in right at the 24 hour mark to get A. I always reprint the boarding pass at the airport, right where I check my luggage in at. I LOVE SWA :)

Thanks guys! I can't wait to fly Southwest:goodvibes . We watch "Airplane" (not sure if that is the proper name) with the kids, and they will get a kick out of the fact we are flying Southwest.:happytv:

We have a 1 year old and 2 kids over 5. I am not sure if they will preboard everyone at the same time (with small children) or do it in within the different groups.

Thanks again

This is sometimes iffey, especially from MCO. There are so many families with small kids they don't always offer pre-boarding

There official policy states this on their web page....

"traveling with a child under five years of age will preboard"

I have never had an issue with it, although sometimes the preboard line is the longest line... AND I highly reccomend those who can't preboard trying to secure an A pass, since there are so many preboarders, there is a chance a B pass would seperate a larger group.

I think you're refering to "Airline", a TV series.

"Airplane!" was a sophmoric comedy movie in the 1970s, staring Robert Hays, and one of the funniest darn films ever made, though not suitable for young children to watch.

Surely you can't be serious!

I am serious. And don't call me Shirley.

haha..I did mean "Airline":lmao: . I knew it was either "Airplane,Airline, or Airport". Thanks for the correction:goodvibes
