I did my very first iron transfer last night with a disign I found here on the board. I purchased t-shirts from Michaels at 2 for $5. I then got the Avery Stretchable Fabric Transfer (5 sheets) around $10. I chose this brand for no other reason than Avery is reputable and I liked the idea of a soft feel transfer and not a feeling of plastic attached to the front of your shirt.
I am VERY PLEASED with the result. The directions said to use a heat resistant surface and not the ironing board, but I opted for my ironing board as I had no alternative. I'm not sure why that was part of the directions, but it seemed to work very well. For a non-crafty person, like myself, the directions were simple and easy to follow.
My suggestion is to save your money. Even if you goof once in your learning experience, you will be money ahead. Go for it! Think of the sense of accomplishment you will have when you can say that you did it on your own.
Good luck,
Cris
