Please pardon my ignorance, but can I take my memory card to Walmart, walgreens, Costco etc. and have my pictures printed? I tried to print them out myself but it seemed more agravation than I cared for. I put them on a CD, but I don't necesarily want to print out all of them, so I thought if I edited the memory card to the pictures I wanted prints for, if I could just take that to the store it might be easier. Also, any ideas on price?

You dont have to edit pics off the memory card. Just take it in to one of the self serve machines, slide it in and you can select which pics you want to print. Depending on how many you print, it doesnt take long. They come right out of the machine. I think Walmart here in SC runs about $.29 a print. The drug stores charge more. Some machines allow you to edit (crop, fix red eye, enlarge) also.

Yes, we have our pictures printed at Walmart all the time. Itis much cheaper than doing it yourself with the cost of ink and paper.

It costs roughly 22-23 cents per picture.

HOWEVER, I would suggest that you put the pictures you want on a CD and take that to Walmart. Even though they will print from the memory card, I would be too afraid that

1) they would lose the card
2) that they would damage the card making it useless
3) that they would erase the card

You can also go to Wal-mart site and register you pictures there and order them on line. Then pick them up. They have regular and one hour, you can also do some editting on their site. One hour is $.29 ea.

I use walmart all the time for my printing. It costs me .24/4x6 print. Sam's club is 018/4x6 print and I have them in 1 hour at either location.

Target, meijers, walgreens, CVS also have machines.

You might want to try a variety of different retailers in your area too. I found a big difference in the quality from retailer to retailer that I was not expecting.

I was once drawn to Walmart's services because of their low price and the quality appeared to be there, but when I tried a reputable camera stores services...amazing! Quality, color, resolution, and clairty...plus I can get an entire collection of enlargement sizes not offered anywhere else too, that also includes panorama.

It pays to shop around and don't let the individual print cost be the number determining factor.

I upload my pictures to Snapfish online.
I can crop my pictures, enhance my photos, etc. any time I want.
With Snapfish I can choose glossy or matte finish.
The quality of the photos from Snapfish are a lot better than what I got at WalMart or the printing machine at CVS, imho.

I like to goof around on Snapfish and change some pics into black and white or sepia tone. You can also put cute frames around pics and have them sent. Make sure if you change pics to bw or sepia to save as a copy. That way your original will still stay the same. I've changed some of my recent photos from Fall pictures into Sepia with Snapfish and they turned out really great!

After you order your prints arrive within 5 days or so.

You can also reorder prints in larger sizes.

The reason I asked is I thought I would take that cord that came with the camera with me and every night I could hook my camera up to the tv in the room. We could watch the pictures and edit out the ones we didn't care for. Then, when we were at Walmart, costco ,etc just get the prints we liked. It seems like it would be less hastle. By my post, you can see I'm not tech savvy, and things like this fluster me. In January I got the camera, took it to WDW, took about 500 pictures (I really didn't know what I was doing) and am still trying to print them. Now in 2 months we are going back and I still haven't got my pictures from the last vacation. But I appreciate all your suggestions. Just trying to simplify my life.

Burn your photos to a CD to freeup your camera's memory media, plus it allows you to keep all of your photos. Most people do not print every digital photo they take, but rather download them to your computer and burn them to a disk.

Burning photos to a CD is now a common service found at most photo development stores too.

CD, yep, that's what I did. Every two evenings, I would visit Walgreens.........pop in my mem card into the slot ...........then do a sort of quick check of all photos (I would also edit through the viewer at camera during day during quiet moments).....then print a couple just 'cause I could .........and buy a CD of photos.....
Then I would delete all..............and then start the next day fresh with a 'new' memory card..............It was terrific!!!

Just give me a minute...

We have a 512MB memcard...hold LOTS of pics...
While we're at WDW, I can:

Stop in at Walmart...
Slide the memcard into the slot...
Choose the photos I want to burn to a CD...
WalMart will do this for me...for ? $$
Then I can bring the CD home...

No danger in losing my memory card, I can check the CD before I delete the memory card..and we can watch the CD at the villa in the DVD player same day...???

Have I got it right?

TIA!!

Our Walmart employees never even touch my memory card. I insert it into the machine myself, pick and crop, and then take my card back.

MBB - sounds like you've got it!!

I wait until I actually get the photos ($.27each ) and CDs (about $3.88 each, and each holds 100 pics) from them (in one hour) before I clear the card, though.

It comes in handy to have more than one memory card.

Excellent!

Thanks, Jana49!!:):):):):)
