Princess Weekend 2022

So, I've watched a few Princess 5K videos on youtube and notice the mylar-type blankets (not a blanket!) that have the run disney logo on them - are those for purchase at the expo?
I've also purchased inexpensive full zip hoodies from Walmart/Target and discarded them before the race knowing that they would be donated to charity. So essentially a barely used brand new jacket will bless someone in need. And while I always keep the mylar blanket from the end of race 1 for the next race, sometimes the end of that next race is too warm to require that blanket. So a backup way to keep warm is useful just in case.

Make it to the magic kingdom to see the castle before it is daylight (this is a big one for me)

So I ran the numbers from you:

This is what the sky looks like at different times during Princess 2022 sunrise.

These are the paces necessary to have that sky background given corral starting location. So for instance, someone starting in Corral D would need to run a 3:57 min/mile to see Astro Twlight, 9:35 min/mile to see Nautical Twilight, 15:12 min/mile to see Civil Twilight, and 20:12 min/mile to hit MK before sunrise.

-maybe even cross the half finish line with an alcoholic drink? That may be too much for me. If not then definitely a parking lot beer.
3. Cross the finish line in at least one of the races with a drink in my hand.
Where would you get a drink at the end for the HM? I'm trying to picture the course through EPCOT and thinking about what is open. Anyway, that sounds like an awesome plan!

So EPCOT in October is scheduled to open at 10am (9:30 for resort guests) and the Balloon ladies are projected at EPCOT at 9:16 and a 9:30am finish. So I don't know if you'll have much wiggle between EPCOT opening and being able to get a drink in there. So any drink would need to be handed to you by a guest on the Boardwalk perhaps (something they had discouraged more recently). That's more doable during the Marathon at Marathon Weekend. Not impossible, but tight given the current opening time. In year's past EPCOT opened at 9am, so then it might be more doable.

I have never done more than 2 races on a race weekend. So, my goal for the Princess 5k is to have fun and maybe do some character pictures (I’ve never been brave enough to do that with a half or full because of fear of being able to get moving again after).
For the 10k, I want to take it slowly as a warm up race for the half. Will probably get more character pictures.
For the half, I would like to finish in 2:15 or better (would be a PR for me). I am using a Hal Higdon training plan and already feel better prepared than I ever did leading up to the 2020 full.

Princess 2020 weekend, with the construction I think we just went up behind Spaceship Earth, then across the bridge to Mexico and behind Mexico to the finish. It didn't even go to the boardwalk. Maybe have a friend go to the bleacher seats right at the finish and hand you a drink before you get to the finish, I'm not sure if they have to buy the "chear" section to go there though. Everyone else is past the finish, the medals and the bananas.

My Princess weekend goals:
-Run a sub 2:00 half marathon for the first time since having a baby a year ago. Unless I surprise myself in the Philly marathon in a couple months lol.
-Feel good and strong in my fitness
-Savor being in the endorphin laden crowd!!
-Give words of encouragement to other runners
Hey! I'm running the Philly Marathon too! Get hyped!

I'll take any tips for this if you have them. 4+ years of running and I still can't manage...

The only way I can lose weight is by working out and dieting. If I only do one I do not lose weight. So I am doing the keto diet and running. Keto is nice for long runs, I do not need to worry about refueling as much when you are eating carbs. I have been doing the this Jan 1st so weight has been coming off slow by steady.

WOW. Anyone else impressed with how detailed @DopeyBadger is?

For the record, I've done probably 10 rD race weekends between MW, Princess and Star Wars over the last 5 years, and have never once been offered one of these at the finish as it has never been cold enough. If you think you may need one, I highly suggest bringing your own.
I got one at the 10k marathon weekend 2019 and used it in the corral for the half the next day. They kept warning us to get rid of it before crossing the starting line because it would interfere with the timing chip.

There was one year I got a non-rundisney cooling towel at the end of a race (maybe marathon 2013). The Mylar must have been a new thing because it was cold MW 2017 and we didn't get them.

I've definitely seen the cooling towels at the end of multiple races!

Just checked - all races are open still? (10K was sold out, but back open)

Looks like the 5k and 10k are sold out now.

Billy is amazing, and is the reigning king of data, spreadsheets, and links to scientifically backed studies and articles related to running. Huzzah!
You must be new around here….:rotfl2:

No offense meant. Spreadsheets and details are his superpower.
Very!! This is amazing and incredibly helpful for my planning/training.

Happy to help! Logistics, spreadsheets, extreme levels of attention to detail, and scientific research are literally my job. So it comes second nature to me.
