I asked about the princess tea while making another reservation, and I swear he told me it was ~$80/adult and ~$120/child. That is crazy...did I hear him wrong?

Well, you sort of did.... It will run you around $250 for one child and one adult, plus tax!

That is CRAZY!

Why is it so much? Do I misunderstand what it is? Chocolate covered strawberries, biscotti, coffee, juice, and a character? Really?

Why is it so much? Simply, because it's Disney and they can!

The child also gets a doll and accessories, a tiara and bracelet, a rose, a certificate....a slew of trinkets to take home with you. The food...yeah, fruit and pb&j! This is definitely a case of "paying for the experience" - perhaps when you leave a noon you might be wanting lunch soon after ;)

Wow.

We didn't do the BBB last year because my youngest was too young to do this tea. And I was sure we would do BBB then the tea and have the most princessy day ever.

Nope! BBB then CRT instead...I could stay two more days for the money of the one tea party :)

Sadly I agree.... I had to make the same choice. BBB & CRT for us too (plus I added 2 days ;) hehe)

My DD and I did the afternoon tea at the GF last summer (she was 7 at the time). No doll or any fanfare, just a nice quiet tea, total cost around $40. She had the Mrs. Potts tea which was chocolate milk instead of hot tea. We dressed up "fancy" and had our little sandwiches and pastries and then walked around the GF. She LOVED it!

I love my daughter deeply, but if I'm going to spend $250 at anything at the GF, it's going to be a massage, not pb& j and a doll ! :lmao: I realize it's alot more than that, but honestly, that's just WAY too much !!

We didn't do BBB when we went last time.... our DD doesn't like her hair pulled tight (and judging from the pictures, they sure pull hair tight!) Last year before Halloween, I bought a few cans of the spray glitter in the costume section in Wal-Mart and I put them away for our trip. (they had our Halloween stuff out in early Sept) We brought it to WDW, I did her hair up all pretty and used the spray gitter. I bought Princess dresses from Disney before we left, so we brought them with us. When she was all done, she looked like she'd gone to BBB (only without the sash). She was THRILLED !! ( and there was glitter all over the bathroom in our room at the GF... sorry to our Mousekeeper! ;) )

One thing I learned, you can work around all the things you HAVE to do and make it equally as wonderful, only on your budget. :goodvibes

I made the BBB reservation for hair, make up, and nails. We are brining our own princess dresses. We have the 'real' disney costumes for Tiana, Jasmine, Ariel, and Snow White. I would definitely spring for Repunzel if I find it, but I really don't need two new ones!

We are going to the Princess Tea in November, but ONLY because I mentioned to my dad and stepmother that Princess Aurora is there (DD's favorite) and that they get $250 for it. I meant it as "can you believe people pay that much?" Well, next thing I knew they had told me to book it and they would pay. LOL Seems crazy to me, but DD will love it and she is their only grandchild, so I am going to let them.

That's the normal afternoon tea, and not the specialty princess tea party with the doll and other event extras.

The regular afternoon tea served between 2pm and 6pm is a lot of fun, and I recommend anyone wishing to do this to make an ADR, since the Garden View Lounge does not hold a lot of guests.

They are not on the Dining Plan, if that's a consideration for people interested in it.

DW DM and DD(4) did the tea party and let me tell you something from the photos and stories it is well worth it. Very personal and fun. Do it once or for a special occasion

We did it in October 2008, when my DD was 4.5, all in all I think it was worth it. :goodvibes The doll is the one they sell in the gift shops and I think it is about $60 to $70 dollars from what I remember, then if you add in the cost of the tea about $45 with tax, tip, gratuity, etc. The food is not just PB&J, fruits, cheeses, adult finger sandwiches, etc...(probably comparable to the $40 tea) But you also have the entertainment, there is a little show, they call each girl by name, special one on one time with Aurora. It is an elegant affair. I think if you consider the location and the fact that people are paying $300 to $500 a night to stay there it is all relative. I got some GREAT pictures of DD at the tea and some special one on one time with her, so overall I think it was worth it. Will she remember? Probable not, but for her age, it was an elegant time with a princess away from the stress of the parks. :cloud9:
