Thinking about doing this for lunch. Never been before--what is all on the menu? Is this recommended or no??? This would replace 1900 Park Fare due to the preplated meal in September.

Thanks for any help in deciding this!!

I have been to the PS at norway for breakfast and dinner but never lunch. I assume the lunch is similiar to dinner but you can check out the menu at allearsnet.com. We really like the princess meal in Norway. The interaction is great and the servers are wonderful. The food is good.. not really great but good. We go each year and have a dinner ADR this year. Its a meal we all look forward too. We have seen Jasmine, Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Aurora and Snow White there. DD insists we saw Mulan there too but I dont remember that. We would for sure recommend it!
1900 Park Fare is good too because Prince Charming is there and he is hard to find anywhere else. He is one of DD's all time faves. I agree the preplated deal would not appeal to me either. I like the buffet at 1900 so it would be a big loss.

Except for the small cold buffet -- salads, cold cuts -- Akershus is pre plated as well, so what's the difference? Just wondering, not trying to be rude, LOL. :goodvibes

At 1900 PF / GFC you order what you want off the menu and it comes out on a plate, pre plated. At Akershus you order what you want off the menu and it also comes out on a plate, pre plated. No? :confused3

Thanks. The only reason we'd change is that we really only liked the 1900 Park Fare for the Mushroom Ravioli and we've been there before. The Akerhus has different princesses, however, I am not sure if the menu is appealing. Such decisions.

Ah, okay, makes sense. Thanks! (Sorry for being nosy, can't help myself.) :rolleyes1

Have you looked at the menu on All Ears? We're having dinner at Akershus for the first time in September, so I'm curious to see what others who have already been have to say about it.

I've eaten there for dinner and I LOVED my meal. There were 5 adults and 3 kids in our party and we all enjoyed it. I had the Traditional Kjottkaker and it was DELICIOUS. I was the only one that ordered this dish but everyone tasted it and really enjoyed it too. The most comparable American dish we have would be a meatloaf but this dish had a lot of flavor.

I never went up to the cold buffet but the other adults did. The Lamb, Salmon and Pasta were hits with the other adults too.

The princess interaction was FABULOUS!!! It was my favorite disney meal aside from Wolfgang Puck (Upstairs dining room)!!

Enjoy!

PS. I didn't understand the pre-plated thing from one of the other posts....you order off a menu like at any other restaurant. I feel "dumb" that I didn't understand....

No, don't feel dumb, LOL. I don't know why they call it pre plated anyway, makes it sound as if it's sitting around in the kitchen all day waiting to be given out, no?

We enjoyed our meal. It wasn't the best of our stay, but it was pretty good. We had the best waiter that we have ever had anywhere, Ole. It was one of our best experiences our last trip. We are looking forward to going again!

We have booked a lunch there also. I was a little concerned about the traditional food but figured there will be something there that we all can eat. When I called to make my ressies, I asked the CM about the food and he said it was all traditional food but that they also had a bar with food for kids such as chicken strip, mac and cheese, etc. I hadn't read that anywhere else. Does anyone know if this is true?

I think I'm going to try and get ADR's for PS breakfast this fall...

I said that I would hate to lose the buffet because I like their buffet. Heaven knows what they will be offering off a menu. I actually like to take DD to buffets so that she can eat more adult foods instead of the normal mac and cheese and nuggets that abound in WDW.

Dont' know if it matters, but I've been told this is the only place at Disney to meet Ariel in a ball gown. And it's only at lunch or dinner, not breakfast.

BUT . . .
Last year, we had the latest breakfast seating. I had been warned when I made our ADRs that Ariel would NOT be available at breakfast. I had prepped DD for this. Anyway, DD had to use the rest room near the end of our meal. When we came out, my heart dropped since they were just setting up Ariel in the photography area at the front. I reminded DD that Ariel was there to meet the little girls eating lunch. She was actually quite a trooper and said she understood. One of the CMs must have noticed DD standing there, and walked over and asked DD if she'd like to meet Ariel. :wizard: I almost fell over! I RAN to our table for the camera and made it back to see Ariel and DD in serious conversation about mermaids and Prince Eric. DD was on top of the world!! It's still one of my favorite pics. I was in tears when I thanked the CMs and Ariel for making my daughter's day.

Wow - that is so cool! And yes, we went for lunch 2 years ago and got a picture of her in a gown. I didn't know that was the only place though.

We thought the food was fine and I'm not an overly adventurous eater.

WindyCityDisney, that is a terrific story!! That is exactly why I keep going back to Disney! Most of my family doesn't understand... but where else would total strangers go so far out of their way to make one little girl happy?! :goodvibes

I felt that the characters went out of their way to make the kids happy.

We did the breakfast last time, so what characters are usually at the PSB lunch?

The only one I know is there is Ariel -- in her ball gown, LOL. I think there's a disclaimer somewhere though, that characters could change at any time. That would be a bummer if they decide to replace Ariel.

We were just there for dinner. We all enjoed the cold buffet- something on it for everyone. Check out all ears. DH had the traditional whatever it's called and loved it. Said it was the best meal he had all week. And we did CP, CRT, Donald, 1900, Coral Reef, Sci Fi and Primetime. I had the cod with seafood medley. It was very mild in flavor but was paired with horseradish mashed potatoes which really kicked it up. The desserts were fabulous!!!!!!! Best all week!! And the princesses were great and came in a bunch so the waiter timed our food where it came out hot after the princesses passed. Then a CM came to ask if we saw all of the princesses wich I thought was great.

We've been for lunch twice now and loved it both times. The interaction is great. The food is also very good. The cold buffet has bread, cold cuts and cheese so if you have a really picky eater a sandwich will work. I think between our trips we have tried all their menu items and the only one I wouldn't recommend was the lamb. I enjoy this resturant a lot more than 1900 Park Fair, it is not as loud and overwhelming....and the food is better.

The same thing happened last April for our late breakfast. When I took DD4 to the restroom to change out of her princess costume, Ariel was there and they were starting the lunch crowd. BUT when we asked if DD4 could meet Ariel, the CM said no. :sad1: We stood and watched Ariel for a couple of minutes and DD4 didn't seem too disappointed.

When we went for lunch in Aug. and Dec. I had the kjottkaker both times. It is delicious. In Dec., the waiter said the bbq shortribs were replaced by bbq pork with cornbread. DD19 got that and I tasted it. It was good. She also got the pasta with salmon in Aug and said it was good. DD4 ate so much off the cold buffet -- she probably ate better there than anywhere else.

We're going back for lunch in Sept.!

I was just looking at our itinerary and saw that we have this booked for July. I don't even remember why we chose it. Glad to hear some good reviews.
