DD is turning six next month and she wants to have a princess bedroom.

Any suggestions on the best place to get the bedding and accessories for her room? I am also trying to be cost effective.

Thanks

Try www.domestications.com they have the bedding much more reasonably priced than the Disney catalog. My dd is getting murals painted in her room of all the princesses as well....Saves money on buying borders, pictures, etc.

I'm just starting to do my youngest dd's room in a Princess theme, but not everything (plain pink bedspread, pastel curtains). I got Princess stencils at Home Depot which I may start today. They have other princess accessories as well (I'm currently looking for the mirror). Then I found a Disney Princess poster at Walmart. Michaels has poster frames on sale this week so I'll go get one to dress it up a bit. Just a few ideas...

My DD wanted a princess room for her 6th birthday, also. I got most of the stuff on Ebay. Disney had a tiara canopy we saw in the Disney Catalog but it was all sold out and we found a nice substitute on Ebay for considerably less. We got all her bedding from Ebay including a princess plaque with her name that goes over her bed.

We got the border and the paint at Home Depot. Home Depot has the Disney paints and also has the borders now. They did not have the borders at the time of her birthday and Disney Princess borders were hard to find, so we got a flowery 3D type of border that we painted lavendar, we painted the bottom of the room pink and left the top off white. We got princess material from Walmart and made a valance for the window.

I made the headboard for DD's bed (and I'm not that handy). It is just a sheet of plywood, cut to the width of the bed and has 3 points cut at the top so we could paint it to look like a castle. We hot-glued letters for her name (available from Wal-Mart or a craft store) to the front over the door so it is "Princess Kylee's" castle and then screwed it directly to the wall.
We took some of the lithographs that we got from pre-purchasing the movies from the Disney store and framed them on the walls. The room is painted pink (what else!) and I also made a valance box (pink too!) that has a closed top so her beanies & princess dolls can go on top of it.
Here's the templete that we made for the bed:

I used MS Publisher to make the template the same size as the actual headboard (poster function).
I can't find a picture right now of the finished room but I will post it when I do.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was going to try Ebay, but then I though if I could not find the complete set, I would be stuck with a bunch of mis matched items.

I guess we will have to determine the specific princess theme and work from there.

Thanks

I stayed with a specific theme on the bedding and was able to find everything and it was not mismatched at all. The only thing I could not find was the border to match that kind of princess bedding/comfortor but we got such a great deal on the border at Home Depot, I was not going to complain and DD likes it. It was not hard to find matching stuff on Ebay at all when I converted her room this fall. I hope you have the same luck!

I took a picture of the bed.

The rest of the room, other than being messy  has princess posters and then the princess valance on the window. We also put a gold filigree framed mirror up over her desk that looks foo-foo. We have also started shelves to house her porcelian princess doll collection. So far, she has Belle, Aurora, and Cinderella.

It is adorable.

Thanks for posting!

I did my daughters room over for her 3rd birthday with the princesses, she picked out Bibbity Boppity Blue paint form the Disney line, online at some wallpaper store I found cinderella border paper that was really nice, I bought the big jumbo wall stickers of all the princesses and got a bedding set at babies are us (its still a toddler bed).....it is really nice, she doesn't sleep in there but she uses it for her princesses tent and plays in tehre sometimes LOL....

I bought dd's Disney princess bedding at Sears. Much cheaper than Disney store. It was a few years ago, not sure if they still sell it. I got the wall paper border from decoratetoday.com. But Home Depot didn't sell it back then, just the paint. I did the stencils too. Now she wants a Jessie (from Toy Story 2) bedroom. Not going to happen!:o :teeth:

I didn't think to check Sears.

Thanks

I found the pictures -
Here's the headboard by itself:

We have four daughters, 9 years, 10 years, 11 years, and 12 years. They all have their own favourite Princess, we have a Snow White, Bell, Sleepling Beauty, and an Ariel.

My wife has painted each of their bedrooms in their favourite colours and has hand painted their Princesses on every bit of wall space going.

To save time and some money this is what she does,

find a colouring picture of their favourite Princess, using a scanner, enlarge the picture to poster size, print.

Purchase a large sheet of carbon paper (same size as poster!), or several small ones joined together, fix the carbon paper to the wall, fix the poster on top.

With a pencil or ball point pen, trace over the lines, use a mild amount of preasure, not to much though or you will ripe the picture.

When you have finished tracing the picture, remove the picture and the carbon paper, and there you have a large colouring picture on the wall ready for you to paint in the necessary colours.

When you have finished painting, let it dry and then outline the details with a marker pen.

The results are fantastic, infact some of our friends want their childrens rooms doing too.

The most recent Disney catalog (got it today) had some Aurora bedding and bedroom stuff on sale. It also had a lot of other princess stuff in there not on sale!!!!!
