Could someone tell me what takes place and where this takes place?.. I think my son would love the Pirate party.. he's 6.. Is it a dinner? and can you do it on the dining plan if not the price of it?.. Thanks.. Sarah

Did I tell you were going to DISNEY???? .. Its been just over a year ago we went and we still all talk about it..:hippie: :hippie:

The Princess/Pirate Party is a separate ticketed event that is held various nights in August/September at the Magic Kingdom. It is similar to Mickey's Halloween Party. The park is closed to only those holding tickets - you get a wrist band as you enter the park. You also are given a bag to collect your loot in (take 2, the bags in January were small). There are different shows around the park that aren't normally held during the day. There's also a special parade and the highlight (at least for me) was the fireworks. They are absolutely not to be missed and should be watched from in front of the castle. They are different from any other fireworks and really go along with a storyline that is told with them.

Around the parks most of the rides were open and the Pirate eatery was open serving tacos which were actually quite good.

There are also various locations set up all over the park where you collect your loot -- it's either chocolate (pirate) or beads (princess). The Riverboat has a different narration which is about pirates and there are different dance parties around the park as well. There is also a princess court area and a pirate play area but I can't tell you much about them as I didn't really stop and look at them.

It was well worth the extra money in my opinion but we love the Halloween Party so that probably helps. We are going back in August to go to it since DH got sick and couldn't go in January. DS (21) and his girlfriend are also going since she likes the princesses.

Hope this helped.

A little more information...

On the day of the party, MK is open to "regular" guests until 7 pm. However, guests who have tickets for the Pirate and Princess party were admitted and given their wristbands as early as 4 pm that afternoon and are free to enjoy MK with the regular guests before the start of the party. The Wishes fireworks show, which is usually much later in the evening, is put on just before the closing for the regular guest. Shortly after Wishes is finished, guests who are not wearing the wristbands for the party are ushered out of the park. There are many, many opportunities to see characters and many of them are decked out in pirate attire. There are also special photo opportunities (e.g., Cinderella's carriage). They run the parade twice and also had a special fireworks show for the party.

For us, it was definitely worth the money. We didn't use any park admissions from our MYW tix the day of the party...so, the price of the party tickets was in lieu of using one day's admission.

We had a 4:00 pm reservation for an early dinner at Crystal Palace, finished dinner by 5:30 pm, went on some rides, went to main street to watch Wishes, and then the party began.

Just trying to decide whether or not to go ourselves. Who am I kidding? Of course I have decided we should go... it is just a matter of convincing the rest of the adults in our party we should go. I need help convincing them that we NEED to go. Help!

Just tell them they will love it - we went last month and one of the highlights for us was that we walked onto all the rides all night. Can you say NO line-ups? It was like having the Magic Kingdom to ourselves...

The fireworks display was amazing, the best we have ever seen anywhere (including Canada Day on Parliament Hill, and that is pretty spectacular), and we really enjoyed the parade and getting our pictures taken with all the characters in special costumes for the night. There were tons of adults there by themselves without kids. I think you would really enjoy it and have highly recommended it to friends who are heading down in August.

I have heard the "folk tales" of being able to walk onto rides but I never really believed it could be true. Do I dare dream that a saturday night P&P party in August would be uncrowded enough to allow us to just walk onto rides? Could we really be so lucky?

I already missed free dining so can I hold out hope for this?

Just wanted to mention this may not be the case in August, since it would still be really light out at 7:00 pm. Of course, I could be wrong about them showing Wishes or not, but figured I'd throw it out there lol!

Good point! I just checked the August hours, and you are right. No WISHES on the P&P show nights that I checked, and, of course, no SPECTRO. I have to be honest. I was one of those that thought that, for August, the P&P party would be later because the parks would be open longer....kind of like the old e-nights where the park closed at 9 (or 10, 11, 12!) and the party was later. One thing, with no fireworks, the park should clear out faster-maybe-you think? Now the decision-during the week, or on the weekend. Also, does anyone know how many tickets are sold for the PPP??

It wouldn't surprise me if the park cleared out faster due to no fireworks. I have to admit, as nice as I think it'd be for them to still have Wishes before the party, 1. I don't think it'd be all that impressive during "daylight", and 2. I'm greedy (I'm going to the party and ya, I'd like it if non-guests cleared out faster ;) ). I would say a weekday night would probably be less crowded (less chance of locals, I would think). I'm not sure how many ticket's they sell... I'm wanting to say like 30,000? (which of course could be waaaay off, so don't take it for gospel lol!).

We went on March 5th, it was awesome. They closed the rides to all non P&P guests as Wishes started. I rode Dumbo and watched Wishes it was one of those wow moments.

The P&P fireworks are spectacular but I thought the parade was not near as good as MNSSHP.

After the P&P fireworks I walked on to every E-Ticket I wanted to, including riding Big Thunder without even getting of the car. Now this was March before the school breaks started and was cold 50 degrees, August might be more crowded.

Are most of you that have confirmed attending the P&PP going only with adults?

I'm taking my family in August, and I'd like to attend this with my kids (8 & 5), but I'm concerned that a) it's primarily for older kids and grownups and b) they won't be able to stay up late enough to make it worthwhile.

Comments?

We did MNSSHP with our kids when they were 10 and not quite 5 yet - It was a late night but worth it!!

I'm thinking we might do the P&P party on Aug 28th I think - Loved being able to walk onto all the rides at MNSSHP last year - that, the fireworks and parade made it worth it!!

We have kids age 2, 6 and 8. We were there until 12:00 am, the closing time for the party. There were lots of kids there, even at the end, but probably fewer than at the start. Our kids were fine until after the fireworks...can't remember the time. They seemed to start fading after that. DD2 fell asleep in the stroller around 11:00 pm. DD6 was definitely tired near the end of the night and fell asleep on the bus back to the resort. DS 8 seemed to make it through the whole night okay. We probably didn't make it back to our room at our resort until 12:45 am but all the kids were able to get up early the next morning to make it for park opening at Epcot.
