Princess Phoebe's Pre-WISH-Trip Report (arriving in MK 4/17/10)

Found some shoes for Tim. Ordered them on Zappos.com and they should be here before the end of the week so he can start breaking them in.

We also got an envelope from Give Kids The World, the official welcome packet.

It explained how the village works, no money needed, what is provided, what kind of activities they do, websites for further details.

It also had a map from the airport, and a map of the village itself with all the villa numbers. I noticed that you can't see on the map which ones are new, so there's no avoiding the orange one. No it really looks like it's laid out nicely. There's the playground on one end, a small pool on the other, and everything else in between.

I wasn't expecting the letter until a week or so before, so it caught me by surprise. Tim had fun reading it, since he hasn't heard about it all before like I have. He especially liked the description of the ice cream shop being open all day. He's just a big kid. I'll show it to the girls tonight. Tessa keeps asking when we can stay at a hotel again. This is going to be so much more fun, and I'm sure we'll have trouble explaining to her why every hotel in the future is not going to be like this!

Great stuff again! I guess we have about month more to wait for our GKTW packet!!! Just when you think it couldn't get more exciting, something else happens to add to the wonderful anticipation of the trip!!

Super cute hair bows and bands! WOW!!! Can't wait to see the girls in them -- I wish we were overlapping at least a little!!!

Also I had to laugh when you said your DH read the GKTW packet --- so did MINE --- every word! Some of us just get excited closer to the date, I suppose!!

Are you starting to pack yet? I thought it was crazy to start packing so far in advance, but now that we're close to the 1 week mark, I'm glad I started early.....

We got another fun package over the weekend from Krystal. I cut the box open and set it next to Phoebe but Tessa got mad that Phoebe was "grabbing" in it. She's still learning that Phoebe does things for different reasons than she might.

Phoebe got some of the items out anyway.

It's a box chock full of fun, colorful bows and headbands! Tessa chose a favorite. (the yellow flower was already in her hair)

Krystal's note explained that the bows can be attached to the headbands or worn separately. They are SO cute!

My favorite one is the Winnie the Pooh, although they are all adorable!

Thank you so much Krystal!!! They are amazingly cute, and so fancy. The girls had fun going through all the combos and choosing favorites. They are going to look so cute with all the new clothes they have!

I'm so glad the box arrived & the girls like their bows! My little princess (and I use that term lightly ) thinks she is too cool to wear bows anymore being almost 8 and all so I had lots of fun making bows again. I hope you all have a magical trip & I'm glad I was able to put a smile on your faces.

St. Augustine is a pretty little town! The fort and the historic area are very cool. Of course, you already know how I feel about Savannah and Charleston.

I'm so excited to explore all these little treasures on the southeast coast! I think I'm keeping things flexible enough that the kids will have fun. Trying not to make it TOO much like a Natl Lampoon vacation.

Of course, the big question is.....................did you listen

I tried to. But you know how people always think "that won't happen to MEEEEEE."


I hope that when you do your TR you'll include specifics about the extended portion of your trip too?

I'm actually looking forward to that part of the reporting more, only because some of the people here haven't seen it before.

Oh, some of the winter wish trippers were hoping for one of the new villas because the exterior is themed like a storybook house or some even look a bit castle-like. I joked with them that I was hoping for an old one because some of the new ones are VERY brightly painted and might give me a headache. Particularly one orange one. But they are all the same inside and I won't complain if we get a new one. It was just fun to joke about.

I know! I have delusions of meeting all of the new friends here someday. I'm glad that there are a couple of families here that are going the same week. But being spread out helps keep the excitement going as we all get to follow along on the TRs.

The Big Give stuff goes directly into a suitcase after we take the pics. So that stuff is set. I am getting out the other stuff like bathing suits and beach clothes to have ready. My stuff will be last because I won't have a separate wardrobe for the entire trip.

Thanks Krista! Sorry my eyes added an L to your name. Going back to edit now. I'm glad that my 8 yr old doesn't protest so I can extend the "cuteness" factor for another year or two, until the younger one is old enough to protest.

I love Charleston!!! As a matter of fact, I was born there and still have most of my family there!!

Thanks for the tips! I've read about all the places you mentioned but it helps to have personal tips to endorse them.

209 isn't a bad price but don't forget to add another $50-$75 on for taxes. Keep searching.. while driving something different is fun, it might be more expensive.

It comes to 280 total, which is about half of what I've been able to find the vans for until now. I'm still checking back often and going to try pricline bidding the last week to see if I can beat it!

for the Borns! They are my favorite brand of shoe. They can be pricey but they last for years and are so comfortable!

I've had one pair before that is still going strong, but it's definitely a winter shoe. I'm glad to have a summer pair to add to my closet.

Here is a pic of my daughter wearing the dress before we sent it to you. I had to promise her I'd make her one . I know this is not at all about me but this was the first time I ever made anything for anyone else besides my family and our daughters were around the same size.

I don't know how I missed this but when I was going through to make a ToC I saw it! You daughter looks adorable in it too!!! You definitely need to make her one. I feel so honored that we were your first "non-family" project! You are so talented. Thank you again, for sharing it with us.
