PRINCESS Palooza 2011! 9/9 Update: Departure Day

LOL! You took a picture of that hidden Mickey, didn't you?

I'd love to have the Tremaines do a dance party again now that Fantasyland is close to opening again. Adi would absolutely love that too I'm sure. We stayed at the dance party for an entire set, over 45 minutes and had a BALL!

I still miss having the photo of Belle with some "regular" hair, but I'm totally happy we have the ones we've got. I just figure we'll give it another go this year. I might have to remake the gown McKenna is wearing, and I have to get creative to add some length to Katie's, but hopefully we'll get a chance to complete our set of Belle photos this year. :)

Any chance of you guys getting back this year?

we won't get back this year. we were talking about doing SWW next year, BUT now we're thinking of a California trip instead. we will do other things in addition to DL. my sister wants to take the older kids down for MNSSHP next year too, so there's that.

i didn't notice the Mickey bun until i was watching a video of our BTMR ride. DH was filming while sitting behind us. i'd love to figure out how they did it so i could re-create it.

oh. and i saw your posting about your FG. two summers ago, our Drizella was not greeting. (the Driz we saw that year was terrible, but i digress.) anyway, she was performing in the parades instead. Addie made us watch many, many parades and we finally spotted her. that being said, she returned to greeting later that year and we were SO glad. i hope that they bring your FG back. some performers are just BORN to be the characters.

and the Merida dress looks great! i admire and envy your talent! ;)

Well, that at least gives me hope that maybe our FG will eventually make it back. Maybe by December?????? :rotfl: A girl can dream, right? I plan on checking in with her before we go. At the very least I'd like to know if we can expect to wave at her in the parade.

I'm glad your Drizella made it back out for meet & greets! Yeah to you though for taking her to all those parades to finally see her!

I'd like to get to California next year too. I actually like DL more than the MK, even if the castle is a little scrawny! :teeth:

Your So talented!!! As always the dress is a knock out!!!

Thanks so much! I'm happy to report that she'sall back together in one piece, and I'm much happier with the V in front. Much better size. Sometimes the only way to gauge something like that is just gold old trial and error. Even if it means ripping things back apart again........

I told Kim that I need to try that Belle gown back on McKenna to see if I need to make a complete new one for her. It's he length I'm worried about. She said she'd be fine with it as a tea-length dress. I just laughed and said "have you MET me????????" :lmao: She's known me long enough I'm suprised she even suggested that!
It's the mark of a true artist to never be happy with your work.

You REALLY need to adopt the Amish philosophy that nothing can be perfect and implement one intentioned mistake.

Wash and repeat!

[BTW - the dress is fantastic!!!]

Awww..... shucks. Thanks! :flower3: I guess that's better than calling it my "sickness"! :rotfl: Yeah, I'll go with that!

I had never heard about that Amish philosophy. I should totally do that.

I went out yesterday shopping yet again for a better plaid. I think I'll be happy with this one. I hope to have the last bits done in the next couple days.

Oh, your dress is gorgeous! I love it! We noticed only one Merida inspired dress when we checked out the Highland Games set up at EPCOT, and yours' is soo much nicer. That poor little girl looked ready to fall over from the heat in that thing. I'm not certain if there's a park version? It was pretty big anyway. Katie's looks adorable and comfortable. Great job! :thumbsup2

Wow Janet the Brave dress is beautiful. I can't wait to see the pictures when she meets Merida.

Thank you! And yes, comfort is job 1 on any of these that I make. Katie lets me know if anything is the least bit scratchy of wonky.

I'm surprised any little girl would dress up in the heat. But then I'm just cranky in the heat myself and doubt I'd get into the spirit anyway.

I'm pretty sure there is a parks version. I know I've seen them at the Disney Store and online. We bought a crown there to finish off the look.

Can't wait to see the completed dress!! :lovestruc

I can't wait to take some photos with Merda now. I'm happy with how it turned out. I think I'm going to try my hand at the turquoise one too so Katie can meet Merida with her friend dressed up as well. We'd meet her in the green early in the week on our own, then later in the week we'd let the friend wear the green and Katie could try the other.

I haven't gotten it back on Katie. But it's done:

Janet, that is awesome! I, like the others, cannot wait to see it in action at WDW!

Can't wait to see the other now too!

As you already know.....we love it!

Your just crazy good!

Looks awesome!

Thanks everyone! I am really happy with how it turned out. It had been living in my head for a while and it felt really good to finally bring it to life. The best part was the huge smile on Katie's face when she saw the finished product! :)

And yes, it's hard to forget where you were on 12/11 around .... what...... 8:15 PM?????? Here's hoping for dry weather this year! Although even that was better than the long-lasting uber-cold of 2010.........

It was awful. I was given tix to the CP by a friend, and the second it was about to start, it just started pouring. And I just couldn't handle it (especially since that meant I couldn't take pictures ;)) and then every CP after that, it started pouring just as it was about to start. I stood in that area of Epcot under cover just waiting it out all night, lol. But yea, nothing was as bad as that cold the year before. No one would believe me hen I said windchill was in the teens the day we went to WWoHP!

And I had hoped for a long time to find Mary in her red coat too. I REALLY wanted to find her in 2008 since I had made Katie that version of Mary's costume. We found her for the first time in 2010 on our second really cold morning there. It was a COMPLETE shock to see her in that costume last year since the weather wasn't the least bit cold. Since we had seen her earlier in the week, I wasn't even looking for her that day..... but just couldn't resist when we saw her in her coat!

I didn't even know she was meeting until I saw your last report, and totally kicked myself since I would have asked around when she'd be out the days we were at the MK that trip. Now it's the one reason I want it to be cold on a future trip in my MK day!! ;)

BTW, as a fellow character hunter, I was wondering if it was ok if I shared a site I just started with pics all the characters I've met at Disney? I know you're a scrapbooker, too, and I also have my character layouts on the site, as well. But I wanted to ask first, I don't want to hijack your thread, lol.

And the Brave dress is AMAZING! I saw some girls wearing the Brave dress they sell at the parks on my last trip, and this is way better. :)

Back from disney, had an amazing time and amazing character interactions at Park Fare and with Mary. Now I'm all ready to catch up on my favourite TR's!!!! LOVE the Merida Dress!!! It is just gorgeous!!!! I saw a coupld Meridas when we were there, the Parks dress is the same from the Disney store and the girls just looked sweltering.

I'm sure you'll LOVE 50's Prime Time. I'm glad we finally got to try it. Now to just figure how to talk them out of Sci fi this next time..... Hmmmm..... maybe I'll tell them it's closed for refurbishment?????

Okay, as you can see, I am WAY behind. But here I am! I am loving catching up on my favorite trip report ever!

I have a suggestion for how to get out of Sci fi this next time (or at least, how to get away with just stopping by Sci fi for a milk shake).

Make a reservation at Brown Derby and plan on sharing the Cobb Salad (out of pocket). I went with Eve and they were so nice about splitting our entree for us. Even with beverages, our entire lunch was just $20 + tip. That's not bad for theme park dining for two. And they brought the salad on two separate plates without our asking. After the meal, we were full. We didn't even have room left for the famous grapefruit cake.

We loved the ambience of the Brown Derby. So much fun! Eve and I pretended to be movie stars while we dined. You and Katie would enjoy the experience--I'm sure! Just imagine Clark Gable and Carole Lombard at one table, Lucille Ball at another table. Then, put on a pair of big Hollywood sunglasses as you stage your exit. :rotfl:
